User Experience Designer

Summary
As a User Experience Designer, you will be responsible for the discovery and design of experiences that simplify complex work. You'll be embedded in a fast-paced product team, collaborating closely with other designers, researchers, engineers, and product managers. You will utilize lean, user-centered design methods to gather insights about Workiva's users and transform them into innovative, intuitive, and accessible experiences. Designers are expected to oversee the entire process, from initial research to final deliverables, including tracking UX success metrics.
What You’ll Do
Design, (usability) test, and solicit feedback on experiences to iteratively improve solutions for defined opportunities and user needs
Collaborate closely with UX researchers to understand and empathize with users' processes and needs, and later test assumptions and solutions
Communicate and visualize user insights and solution concepts via right-fidelity artifacts (ex. personas, process maps, concept diagrams, flows, problem statements, sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and others)
Collaborate with other designers to leverage and evolve existing patterns and design systems to ensure we are building a harmonious, consistent ecosystem of products
Work cross-functionally within product teams to drive projects forward by planning, managing, and communicating priorities, progress, and milestones
Facilitate development of designs by collaborating with engineers and product team from concept through deployment
Define success for solutions with product management and research and follow up on deployed solutions to inform future iteration
What You'll Need
Minimum qualifications
2+ years of related experience in design role in software or related area
Portfolio demonstrating strong design process is required
Bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience
Preferred qualifications
Undergraduate degree in related fields include Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Software Engineering, Psychology, and Technical Communication preferred
Experience building right-fidelity prototypes
Experience working with engineers and product teams in a collaborative, Lean UX / Agile software development environment
Skilled with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, XD, Sketch, InVision, etc.
Solid skills and strong passion for detailed interaction design
Skilled in user-centered design principles, methods and process
Solid analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and collaboration skills
Comfort adapting in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
Ability to create and maintain working relationships with a geographically distributed team
Experimental and iterative mindset, embracing and incorporating feedback
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
Willingness to travel less than 10% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests
