Parsons is now hiring an experienced Senior Supervising Engineer to support our bridge and structural projects in the Pacific Northwest region and nationally. The successful candidate can apply advanced engineering techniques and supervise a team of Engineers and Designers.

- In this role you will likely perform design activities and supervise a group of multiple engineers and design personnel within the structural discipline to advance projects by directing technical engineering assignments. This role may include coordination and limited supervision of multiple disciplines as a project structural lead. Willingness to travel occasionally is desirable. This exciting role will offer the possible opportunity to supervise project work with a broad variety of concrete and steel civil structures including bridges and walls for Parsons’ highway and rail transit clients.
- You would be expected to engage with infrastructure owners (DOTs and Transit Agencies) as well as contracting partners to advance infrastructure projects as a discipline lead. You would likely act as a subject matter expert and have a willingness to be the engineer of record on infrastructure projects within your realm of expertise.
- Parsons pursues projects with a broad range of clients in the United States and worldwide. The role will likely include, among others, structural design leadership on pursuit development and estimating deliverables for Design Build projects, traditional Design Bid Build projects, CMGC, GCCM, Progressive Design Build…
- There is an option for this role to be virtually based for an experienced professional engineer.
Responsibilities:
Performs and reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and quality is high.
Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of personnel. Makes staffing assignments and reassignments as project needs arise.
May conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions and salary actions, and recommends training and development for personnel.
Helps to define discipline design organization and participation on a project, including scope of work, design criteria, schedules, standards, and procedures.
Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
Supervises the production of project drawings and design calculations.
Promotes technical excellence on the project, including furthering the Quality Improvement Process.
Ensures that discipline design work is coordinated with project staff and Engineers from other disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communications.
Advises engineering and project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could affect project completion and/or profitability.
Initiates and/or reviews change order requests for additions, deletions, or changes to the original scope of work.
Ensures that adequate checking is performed in accordance with discipline checking policy and procedures.
Recommends design methods, equipment use, etc., for discipline standards.
Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
Recommends and prepares technical papers.
Qualifications:
BS and MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field) with structural emphasis
15 years or more of related work experience with bridge design projects for road & highway infrastructure
Professional Engineering (PE) license is required or ability to obtain comity
Structural Engineering (SE) license is required or ability to obtain comity
Experience with ODOT, WSDOT and light rail transit owners is desirable
Proven ability to perform in a supervisory capacity
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required
Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project
