About the Role 

We are seeking a talented and accomplished drug hunter to help build out and advance Valo’s Discovery team and therapeutic portfolio. Leveraging your experience along with Valo’s unique computational + experimental discovery platform you will make core contributions to program prioritization, leadership and prosecution to deliver drug candidates. We have partnered with Charles River Labs to combine our cutting-edge chemistry design and modeling platform, with CRL’s industry leading laboratory capabilities to create a new risk-sharing Drug Discovery offering, called Logica. As a team member for Logica, you will lead the medicinal chemistry design and progression of on-going client programs. As part of Valo and Logica, you will be part of a team who is driven to develop and utilize AI based tools to greatly enhance to drug discovery process.

What You'll Do...

• Lead drug discovery efforts on programs conducted through Logica offering, while providing regular communications to our clients
• Work closely with a team of experienced drug hunters and data scientists to identify and prioritize opportunities for creating novel and impactful medicines
• Independently drive chemistry efforts on Logica programs, using our proprietary OPAL platform to ideate and design chemical spaces to explore, selection and manage the synthesis of molecules to make, and evaluate SAR to optimize drug-like properties
• Collaborate across many disciplines to ideate, plan, build, refine and implement new experimental + computational platforms to enable small molecule drug discovery with unprecedented scope, scale and quality

What You Bring...

• Extensive practical knowledge and expertise in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery with a distinguished record of accomplishment
• Academic training in organic or medicinal chemistry (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) with 10+ years of drug discovery experience spanning target ID to candidate nomination
• Skill and facility applying current structure- and/or ligand-based computational design approaches; curiosity and excitement to apply new, technology-driven approaches to transform the drug discovery paradigm
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead, work effectively and collaboratively within multifunctional matrix projects teams and to manage work at contract research organizations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong commitment and attention to detail
• Thoughtful decisiveness; comfort and productivity in dynamic and creative environments
