Senior Grants Accountant

The Sr Grants Accountant is responsible for for managing the financial aspects of grants and ensuring compliance with grant terms, regulations, and organizational policies. This role involves working closely with grant-funded projects, grantors, and various internal departments to track and report on financial activities related to grants.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and analyze accounts in compliance with departmental policy while adhering to established deadlines.
  • Lead development and maintenance of analytical & departmental reports including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Implement and monitor compliance with current accounting standards, policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Contribute to the various grant accounting operational processes (e.g., federal grant cash collection, reconciliation, reporting processes).
  • Account for grants and contracts in accordance with internal policies and procedures, as well as external regulations.
  • Actively contribute to the development of policies and procedures within own area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identify opportunities and provide inputs to improve efficiency/ automate current processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance, or related field of study required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Requirement: 4+ years of accounting experience working with a general ledger and related financial information systems.
  • Deep understanding and experience with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IRS, US GAAP, Uniform Guidance, hospital regulations) within specific area.
  • Some experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • Workday and Power BI experience a plus.
  • Grant Accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel preferred.
  • Professional certification (e.g. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Certified Research Accountant (CRA)/Certified Management Accountant (CMA)) preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Senior Grants Accountant.
