QA Test Engineer - Remote (WFH)

Our team is seeking a QA Test Engineer to support the VA T4NG Consolidated Corporate Support Services (CCSS) program, serving our Department of Veterans Affairs Corporate Portfolio clients across the U.S. This role involves independently driving testing efforts, ensuring the quality and reliability of software products, and collaborating directly with stakeholders to deliver robust solutions that meet organizational and user needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies that encompass various testing methodologies, including manual testing, performance testing, and UAT.
- Design and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test procedures to verify that all information systems meet organizational standards and end-user requirements.
- Develop a testing schedule and define the testing approach.
- Write and execute test cases and scripts, ensuring proper test coverage.
- Identify and prepare test data for scenarios to validate system functionality.
- Conduct test case/script walkthroughs with Project Managers and Development Leads to ensure alignment with requirements.
- Perform thorough testing of software and IT systems to identify and document defects, ensuring proper operation and freedom from issues.
- Perform verification activities using defined methods, procedures, and criteria within an appropriate verification environment.
- Document and communicate test results clearly and concisely.
- Analyze test outcomes and support resolution of open issues to maintain system integrity.
- Develop innovative solutions and improvements to testing processes and workflows.
- Devise potential models and configurations for future software and system enhancements.
- Adhere to established client testing guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Experience in UAT planning and execution.
- Proficiency in using Jira for defect tracking and workflow management.
- Ability to write and execute test cases and scripts.
- Deep knowledge of testing applications developed with .NET and C#.
- Proficiency in various testing tools and scripting languages (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Python, MicroFocus, Eggplant, SmartBear, TestComplete).
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
- Hands-on experience with 508 Compliance testing tools
- JAWS (Job Access With Speech)
- ANDI (Accessible Name & Description Inspector)
- NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access)
- VoiceOver (Mac and iOS)
- WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Extension)
- Familiarity with interpreting functional and technical requirements.
- Expertise in defect identification, documentation, and resolution.
- Experience with automated testing tools for software, such as Jira Xray, MicroFocus, Eggplant, SmartBear, and TestComplete.
- Ability to prepare for and conduct user acceptance testing (UAT).
Required Education, Experience, and Clearance:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience
- Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust – Medium Background Investigation (MBI).
