Job Description
ICF is seeking a Publications and Accessibility Compliance Specialist to support document and project delivery efforts for a range of environmental projects covering transportation, renewable energy, water resources, and planning and development. Location is flexible with West Coast offices in Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, and San Diego. Options to work as a hybrid or full-time remote employee will be considered. The responsibilities of a Publications and Accessibility Compliance Specialist entails advanced use of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat to assist in the preparation of technical and environmental compliance documents and ensure they comply with federal and state accessibility laws. Specific responsibilities include:
Formatting documents in accordance with specific templates
Applying styles
Marking text (acronyms, citations, figures, and tables) for list production
Generating multi-document tables of contents and indices
Ensuring formatting consistency and document completeness (i.e., tracking multiple components of large, complex documents)
Creating title pages, signature pages, and flysheets
Building PDFs of complex documents for reproduction or web posting
Implementing advanced formatting, such as comment-and-response sections for environmental documents
Creating new templates to requested specifications
Assisting project teams and technical staff with document design and management support
Making documents accessible per applicable federal and state laws
Conducting accessibility compliance checks for documents to be posted on federal and certain state agency websites.
Identifying errors in document structure, headings, reading order, figures, and tables and remediating identified issues.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of experience formatting documents or performing similar work
Preferred Qualifications
Expert skill level in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
BA in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.
Experience working in the environmental sector
Outstanding file-management skills
Ability to conduct multiple complex tasks with minimal supervision
