Portfolio Growth & Performance Intern (IP)

Summary
The Portfolio Growth & Performance (PGP) Intern assists the team in creating and amplifying our US Government (USG) proposal development and award management tools, resources and learning materials. This position provides both operational and technical support to both the New Business Development (NBD) and Award Management (AM) teams within PGP and plays an important role in assisting with the development of departmental initiatives. The intern will be provided with introductions to SCUS USAID proposal development processes and award management functions and will be exposed broadly to the work of an international development non-profit organization.
What You’ll be Doing (Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Impact)
Technical/Operational Support (70%):
- Provide technical support to the NBD and AM teams by:
- Provide proposal management support as needed (researching, attending, and capturing notes in relevant meetings, etc.).
- Gather and support the analysis of donor intelligence and market research to position Save the Children as a partner of choice and explore new funding sources.
- Using award management resources, program documentation/reports, and outreach to country office teams – aggregate, organize, and develop external capacity statement resources for new thematic areas.
Knowledge Management (15%):
- Support business development knowledge management and learning initiatives such as management of learning assets, content editing, and evaluation and reporting.
Learning and Professional Development (15%):
- Weekly touch-base with supervisor to discuss internship goals, project timelines, progress, and roadblocks.
- Determine other informational interviews, projects, etc. that would be conducive to continuing intern development.
- Create objectives for internship and measure progress against them.
- Attend various learning opportunities offered through the SCUS IFV program, as well as directly with the PGP team.
Examples of past intern tasks include:
- Create a library of short how-to videos and reference guides for common processes.
- Complete a review of current tools/processes/best-practices/key documents across AM units to make recommendations of shared standard tools across the department.
- Shadow Proposal Assistants and provide support on active capture and live proposals.
- Help with info gathering and analysis for anticipated opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Must be an actively enrolled Associate, Bachelor, Master, or other post high school education program, or have graduated within six months of program start date.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and experience in data management and visualization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience researching relevant topics and compiling and reporting findings.
- Experience in data management and visualization.
- Experience working in SharePoint.
- Proficiency in other languages (French, Spanish) is an asset.
