Come join the Internet Scout Research Group (https://scout.wisc.edu), one of the oldest and most respected digital library research centers in the US, based right here at UW-Madison. We are looking for one undergraduate student (with a graduation date of May 2024 or ideally later) to help us with a variety of tasks related to Scout's work of connecting educators to free online resources – in particular helping with our social media platforms and outreach/marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

Social media related work, or other marketing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment as well as independently
• Experience working with and maintaining social media accounts, such as Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. (for applicants interested in outreach and communications only)
• Experience with social media analytics and tracking tools, e.g. Hootsuite, Facebook Insights, or X/Twitter Analytics preferred
• Canva experience would be a plus

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Job duties for the Outreach & Communications Assistant may include:
• Writing, creating, and scheduling social media content (primary task)
• Tracking content performance with social media analytics tools
• Assisting with conference preparation or other outreach efforts
• Assisting with big-picture social media strategy, as needed

Physical Demands:

Sitting - Remaining in a seated position
Near Visual Acuity - Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e. reading small print on a computer screen)
Keyboarding - Entering text or data into a computer by means of a keyboard
Lifting/carrying - Raising or lowering an object from one level to another
