Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a talented and driven Senior Product Manager – Technical (PMT), to help us innovate and create new solutions for new and existing problem management products that will change the way both internal and external AWS customers operate and improve workloads in the cloud.

You will design and drive for solutions that will standardize effective mechanisms that help AWS customers understand, measure, and continuously improve their systems availability and operational health. You will be a Problem Management Evangelist and technology visionary leader who plays a key role in the evolution of our platform to reduce the duration, reoccurrence, and size of customer impacting events for your customers.

As a leader on our team, you will partner with Product Management, UXR, UXD, and engineering teams across AWS with a working backwards “know your customer” approach that directly informs the vision and future designs. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect engineers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product vision, technical architecture and project delivery. Successful candidates will be high-bandwidth visionaries comfortable diving deep into technical details and who can cut through the noise, simplify, deliver results, and build great products.

Your major customers are AWS services and customers including Amazon.com. You will demonstrate strong leadership as you control your own destiny in Amazon's ownership oriented culture. You will own an ambitious product roadmap and be challenged to balance competing priorities before writing complex requirements that are your foundation for leading engineering and user experience designers to execute the vision.

Outstanding candidates will rely on data and insights to construct the vision, author compelling prose to influence your team and stakeholders, and will skillfully cultivate high-trust relationships by owning and delivering on the vision. Success is predicated on high attention to detail, spot-on judgement, and ultimately an unbending predisposition that vigorously advocates for the customer.

AWS has the most services and more features within those services, than any other cloud provider–from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases–to emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and analytics, and Internet of Things. Whether its Identity features such as access management and sign on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, and even projects like automating all of our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is always innovating with the customer in mind. The AWS Platform team sustains over 750 million transactions per second.

Basic Qualifications


  • 5 years of experience as a Product Manager
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, other related fields, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in delivering improvements to process and technology based on identified business need
  • Proven track record of planning and delivering large-scale, high quality systems and software products.
  • A dedication to automating all aspects of distributed system operations.
  • Experience working directly with Engineers and UX designers in an Agile development environment.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-complexity projects
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills; sufficient poise to successfully interact with all levels of an organization, cross-functional partners, and customers.
  • Passion for technology, curiosity to dive deep into Amazon’s suite of technical products and commitment to learning and expanding technical knowledge
  • 4-year BA/BS required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the ITIL framework and understanding of ITSM
  • Experience with Incident Management, Operations, Problem Management, Issue Management, or similar topic.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including scoping, design, building, testing, and operations
  • Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
  • Experience in communicating with executives to describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience mentoring technical contributors
  • Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your teamProven ability to synthesize and make sense out of huge amounts of data
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems independently with an extreme attention to detail
  • Strong strategic aptitude; ability to define the right business strategy and develop the product roadmap to deliver it
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence stakeholders without formal authority, leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
  • Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in creating innovative and user-friendly products and customer-facing features
