The AWS DynamoDB team is looking for technical, team-first-mentality software development managers, who are willing to commit themselves to our goal to grow the business by 10 times over the next 2 years.
DynamoDB is a key-value database that delivers single-digit-millisecond performance on a massive scale and incredibly high rate of requests per second. A lot of businesses, such as Disney, Dropbox, Snap, The Pokémon Company, as well as AWS and Amazon external and internal services, depend on the scale and performance of DynamoDB to support their mission-critical workloads.
Key job responsibilities
• Manage a hybrid team of Software and Systems Development Engineers.
• Solid understanding Software and System design fundamentals.
• Independent and hands-on technically and regularly dives into technical problems.
• A passion for scaling distributed systems.
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience
5+ years as a team-lead or software development manager, or other transferable experience.
5+ years of professional software development management experience
3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
Great written and verbal communication skills

Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
- 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
- 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
Bachelors degree in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience
5+ years as a team-lead or software development manager, or other transferable experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with non-relational database systems5+ years of professional software development management experience
3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
Great written and verbal communication skills
