The AWS Sales & Marketing team is looking for a communications leader with a passion for storytelling and a proven track record building effective communications and engagement programs for senior leaders who have broad external and internal accountabilities within fast-moving, and global organizations.

We are seeking a communications leader to join AWS Partner Organization (APO) and manage our executive communications function that acts as a service (AAS) to our APO leaders. This AWS Comms Manager plays a crucial, collaborative leadership role ensuring all APO executive communications activities are fully and strategically leveraged to further APO’s vision and global strategies. This role will support executive speaking engagements with editing, research, and managing logistics to ensure our leaders deliver strong, concise and powerful narratives to inform and inspire our internal and external audiences. Written communications will include speeches, original blog posts and articles, digital content, and social.

Foundational to success in this role is deep passion for our AWS Partners, and for communicating how AWS can impact the way we work and live every day. Sharing our story to our customers, partners, and other external audiences requires the ability to tell simple and creative stories.  The chosen candidate will make recommendations, invent and simplify mechanisms, and combine data from multiple sources into clear, concise, simple and relevant messages. They will maintain balance proactive guidance and strategy with flawless execution to become a trusted partner to the leadership team.

The ideal candidate must be an effective writer and skilled communicator who can translate complex messages into simple, compelling outcomes. They must have a strong track record of delivering results by producing high-quality, clear content, a demonstrated ability to earn and maintain trust across stakeholders, and insist on highest standards for quality, attention to detail while working on multiple projects simultaneously. They need to a bias for action and balance driving vs being directed. They must be comfortable taking risks and raising the bar for new ways of doing things.

The communications leader will be curious about programs and initiatives that impact our partners and our people. They will design communications strategies that consider both proactive and reactive tactics. They enjoy learning and asking the right questions to get a quick understanding of a program or initiative to craft rich narratives.


Key job responsibilities
• This role is responsible for developing, organizing and executing strategic communications programs for AWS Partner Organization (APO) executives, including internal communications, media engagements and appearances at industry, government, and thought leadership events.
• Work directly with AWS Partners Senior Leadership executives and serve as an integral part of APO’s Strategic Communications team
• Serve as writer to senior executives for global audiences, including driving the creation and delivery of compelling, executive-level presentation materials (slides, scripts, messaging documents, and customer stories) for Amazon senior leadership
• Leverage thought leadership programs and opportunities for APO executives, to promote the business value that can be obtained by partnering with the Partner Organization
• Apply superb organizational skills to the management of high-level communications opportunities, both internally and externally
• In partnership with PR, provide communications counsel to diverse business groups and senior executives
• Manage speaking engagement calendar for SLT with other Comms Team members to ensure alignment of key messages both internally and externally
• Measure and share results of speaking engagement to evaluate impact
• Collaborate with Marketing, PR and Social Media Partners to amplify Speaking Engagements

Basic Qualifications


• 7+ years communications or marketing experience
• 5+ years of copyrighting for business executive
• Ability to translate complicated concepts into clear, compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to develop effective executive communication content requiring minimal editing and rework.
• Collaborative approach to working with the ability to interact and influence employees at all levels, including senior executives.
• Experience developing and implementing communication plans
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• 10 or more years of
• PR or executive communications experience within the business-to-business technology sector
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in crisp, concise communications
• Experience driving cultural change and influencing organizations through communications, from audience and stakeholder analysis through implementation and success metrics tracking
• Thrives in a high energy environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel
• Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders
• Strong judgment in ambiguous situations where much is unknown and there is a high degree of urgency
