The Behavioral Health Operations Director will bridge the gap between corporate responsibility and high-quality patient care. This role will play a critical role in practice operations through continuous improvement, driving change, and ensuring that the needs of patients are met. This role will monitor regulatory and accreditation standards, changes in health care law, and delivery system trends in order to ensure the business is running in accordance with corporate and government guidelines.

  • Collaborate with General Medicine Medical Directors and Behavioral Health Therapy Regional Lead to innovate care models for behavioral health (e.g., integrated care) that support the triple aim of healthcare: experience, cost, and outcomes
  • Work with global clinical governance to ensure national behavioral health practice is aligned with global clinical structure
  • Establish Behavioral Health Practice clinical “What Owner When” (WOWs) and associated KPIs  (e.g., NPS, SLAs, Patient Retention)Design and support the implementation of clinical components of business strategies, plans, and procedures (e.g., criteria for chart reviews, performance improvement plans, Medication Utilization Evaluation program, etc.)
  • Operationalize clinical workflows and identify gaps within existing workflows
  • Provide strategic oversight on the development of protocols and standard clinical workflows for behavioral health providers
  • Develop strategy and implementation program for controlled substances
  • Remain informed on medical practices through continuing medical education and socialize information with providers in the behavioral health service line
  • Accountable for quality of treatment and related services provided by Babylon’s professional staff, through participation (directly or by design) in Babylon’s ongoing quality assurance and audit processes
  • Work cross functionally to ensure CPT Codes and reimbursements are in compliance with state/client needs; provide recommendations when concerns are escalated
  • Work with the Operations team to understand practice performance (e.g., provider utilization, patient satisfaction, and patient retention) and recommend areas for improvement
  • Work with the marketing team to develop and market behavioral health academic articles and thought-leadership pieces 
  • Work with Operations Lead to understand provider needs across regions to recommend opportunities for network optimization (e.g., cross-state licensing) 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic direction (e.g., service line expansion, hours of operations, etc.) for network expansion

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Behavioral Health related field/healthcare administration required (consideration may be given to Bachelor’s Degree in related field with equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of Seven (7) years in Community-Based Behavioral Health setting required of which at least Five (5) years of experience in overseeing clinical program or project management required. The experience must have included program evaluation responsibility.
  • Five (5) years of experience in behavioral health clinical practice, behavioral health service management and/or health care program or operations managing physician practices, including service and quality performance, and productivity.
  • Experience working in a virtual capacity
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and operational leadership, managing large scale projects and programs aimed at program development and growth strategies

Professional Skills

  • Considerable knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies, which govern behavioral health services
  • Critical thinking – Identifies complex problems. Involves key parties, gathers pertinent data and considers various options in the decision making process. Develops, evaluates and implements effective solutions.
  • Familiar with DSM-V diagnosis, mental health and substance abuse treatments, and community resources.
  • Strategic thinking skills including affecting planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, tracking results and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work simultaneously on multiple initiatives, and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive experience working in a collaborative manner with physicians, clinicians, staff and other leaders; must have examples of successful collaborative efforts
  • Ability to synthesize program performance and clinical outcomes
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in resolving issues and conflicts
  • Advanced technical skills and experience working in a telemedicine environment
