My name is Aneesh Kulkarni.  I helped start Datavant nearly five years ago.  I’ve led our engineering function from our first lines of code, to our first customer, to hiring our 70th engineer recently. I am looking for someone to help me run & scale this team.  You’ll get unparalleled visibility into the inner workings of running an engineering team in a fast-growing health tech company.

This is designed to be a role you spend 1-2 years in, before transitioning into another role at Datavant (in engineering or another function).  It’s a great opportunity for someone interested in leading large engineering teams in the future, or for someone interested in an operational leadership role.  You’ll get a unique perspective on what it’s like running an engineering organization.

You Will:

  • Work closely with me to solve the most important challenges in the engineering team.
    • There are some big challenges I’m already aware of:
      • Program manage large engineering initiatives like our architecture transition.
      • Manage team integrations as a result of re-org or acquisitions.
      • Run a decision process for our federal government compliance strategy.
    • And others that may not be on my radar yet:
      • First, identify issues in the organization that I’m not seeing.
      • Then, brainstorm with me on ways to address those issues.
      • Over time, I want to entrust you with driving improvements on your own.
  • Drive processes & communications that keep engineers, engineering managers, and leaders across the company informed about key initiatives.

What You Will Bring to the Table: 

  • You’ve spent multiple years in roles that require polished verbal and written communication.  You’ve led teams that achieved important goals for your organization.  You’ve worked closely with engineering teams before.
  • You are highly organized.  I’ll look to you to keep the trains on the tracks and running on-time.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguous projects, and can create clarity where none exists.
  • You enjoy startup scrappiness, and can adjust priorities quickly.
  • You have strong relationship management skills: engaging, motivating, communicating and executing.
  • You have a growth mindset — you’re constantly looking to learn & grow your skills, and learn from those around you.
