About Us

Singularity Data is an early-stage start-up that innovates next-generation database systems. The company develops RisingWave, a cloud-native SQL streaming database for modern real-time applications.

RisingWave is a cloud-native streaming database that uses SQL as the interface language. It is designed to reduce the complexity and cost of building real-time applications. RisingWave consumes streaming data, performs continuous queries, and updates results dynamically. As a database system, RisingWave maintains results inside its own storage and allows users to access data efficiently.

Singularity Data was founded in early 2021 by a team of experienced database researchers and practitioners who have previously worked for the likes of, AWS Redshift, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, LinkedIn, Uber, etc.

Singularity Data has raised tens of millions of US Dollars from top-tier VC funds and angels.


Singularity Data is looking for a motivated technical writer to produce technical content that will help users and developers make the most of our stream processing technology. As a member of the Technical Documentation team, you will work with the rest of the Documentation team, engineers, and solution architects in a distributed environment to create highly impactful content in various forms.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a technical background that enables easy interaction with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver technical documentation for developer audiences. Any experience you have with open-source development, data analytics, or Git would be a bonus.


  • Work directly with engineers and solution architects in a distributed environment to deliver best-in-class user and developer documentation, including overviews, how-to guides, tutorials, and SQL references.
  • Work with the tools team to ensure the external documentation is SEO-friendly, searchable, and browsable.
  • Evaluate the user and employee needs relevant to technical documentation and create plans to build the content.
  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others, and coach non-writers on technical writing best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt user-friendly formats, like illustrations, graphs, and infographics, for enhanced user experience.
  • Conduct or participate in user and developer research for feedback, revisions, and improvement in technical content.
  • Manage priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the style guide and technical documentation processes.


  • 2-3 years of experience writing technical documentation for a developer audience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity and experience with SQL and command-line.
  • Experience working with open-source development.
  • Experience reading code in languages such as Java or Python
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related fields.
