We are looking for an experienced manager who will lead a set of cross-functional teams responsible for implementing and maintaining integrations of our ordering platform with key technology partners.  This candidate should be passionate about growing people to their next level and leveraging industry standards and best practices while keeping focus on releasing quality software. 
As Director of Engineering, you will lead and support multiple teams as a manager of managers, but with the opportunity to set direction across all teams, grow existing teams, and build out new teams.  You will help establish your team’s vision, guide their execution, align priorities with the needs of the business, evolve processes in support of continuous improvement, drive stakeholder alignment, and coach and further develop those engineering managers who report to you. You will foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, communication, accountability, skill sharing, teamwork, mutual respect, and learning.
As a transformational leader, your focus will be on facilitating successful team outcomes, hiring and developing engineering talent, and ensuring that we are delivering exceptional software and services to stakeholders. Our ideal candidate has led multiple engineering team managers for a fast-growing SaaS product company managing large scale, highly available, distributed systems, and has demonstrated success in leading and building a high performance engineering team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • As a transformational leader you’ll fully support, challenge and inspire your team while aligning to business needs and objectives.
  • You’ll remain technical enough to drive the team to their best abilities while keeping a focus on process and approach for a maturing engineering organization.
  • Develop your staff through recruiting, mentoring, 1:1s, and goal orientated growth plans.
  • Strategize for the future of Engineering including but not limited to hiring forecasts, optimal team structure, annual budget discussions, etc.
  • Collaborate with Product, executive stakeholders, and the greater Engineering teams to deliver results.
  • Guide the development of team vision and execution while removing impediments to team progress
  • Establish a clear vision and mission for your team with supporting objectives.
  • Work with teams to drive a solution when a problem is seen anywhere in Engineering.

What We’ll Expect From You

  • Experience managing multiple teams with a focus on delivering projects with company-level impact and priority.
  • Results implemented through direct reports who are managers or senior managers.
  • Ability to assess proposed solutions from both a technology and business efficacy perspective and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Ability to drive or facilitate organizational change, as well as support and lead creation of engineering standards.
  • Ability to guide the growth and development of managers who report to you.

Nice to Have

  • Management of vendor and partner relationships.
  • Experience aligning budgets and staffing in line with business objectives and constraints.
  • Experienced in a fast-growing SaaS product company managing large scale, highly available, distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and building a high performing engineering team.

COVID-19 Impact
Olo is committed to the well-being of candidates, employees and our community. The  Olo NYC Headquarters will be closed for the foreseeable future because of the global outbreak of COVID-19. While an in-person interview is typical for many roles at Olo, we will conduct interviews via video conferencing while our HQ is closed.
