The Basics:

The Enterprise Services Technical Writer Lead works closely with Tanium customers to develop technical documentation, or playbooks, to accompany our platform and products. Enterprise Services Technical Writer Lead are responsible for developing consumable, accurate, and timely documentation from which Tanium’s prospects and customers derive real value.  The Lead is also responsible for providing purpose, motivation, and direction to a team of cross-functional team members and upholding Tanium delivery standards. The Enterprise Services Technical SOP Writer should possess the technical aptitude needed to keep up with Technical Account Managers (TAMs) to understand our customer’s environments and the value that Tanium products provide.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and write security software installation, user, and admin guides as well as other documentation
  • Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts for technical capabilities
  • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals in accordance with statement of work
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
  • Participate in development of and recommendations for documentation style standards, information architecture, tools, and best practices
  • Build standard documents for the customer tailored to their environment
  • Manage a group of Enterprise Services Team Members by providing support on customer activities and being the point of contact for concerns and questions
  • Determine how Enterprise Services Engineers function in their jobs on a day-to-day basis
  • Monitor performance and progress of all direct reports while assigning projects as needed
  • Provide Enterprise Services Engineers with training and development plans, career roadmaps, feedback, and coaching
  • Build trusted relationships and credibility within your business groups, the ESO leadership team, and with your direct reports to drive the business forward
  • Coordinating technical contributors and customer personnel for input to playbook and SOP development
  • Ensuring the timely and technically accurate delivery of input from contributors
  • Expected to travel up to 25% of the time on average (can vary by region)

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Education
    • BA/BS or equivalent experience required from the following:
      • Journalism
      • English
      • Communications
      • Computer Science
      • Engineering
  • Experience
    • 5 years of experience in tech writing and business process documentation.
    • Experience writing for a system administrator audience
    • Experience documenting for both Windows and Linux environments
    • Experience working with users to document processes and procedures based on software product usage
    • Familiarity with XML, HTML, topic-based/structured authoring, and single-sourcing; knowledge of DITA
    • Experience with IT security software/products
