As a Language Quality Manager, you will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that translated content is completed with the highest quality. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work autonomously. You will also need to successfully work with technical and non-technical people alike, and have a desire to learn new tools, processes and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the overall linguistic quality (language, tone, and cultural appropriateness) of all content types for Dropbox in the locale(s) you are responsible for.
  • Define, develop, and maintain glossaries and style guides for Dropbox’s products.
  • Oversee Linguistic QA (LQA) passes:
    • Perform linguistic QA in the language of expertise as needed.
    • Identify, log, propagate or triage any linguistic and functional bugs. Partner with LPMs to ensure proper prioritization and rerouting of engineering issues.
    • Vet translation quality results and communicate back the findings to LPMs when needed.
    • Follow up on open critical issues by actively tracking critical logged bugs and providing regular status
  • Review translated content, such as product, marketing web pages, sales/marketing collateral, customer email campaigns, press communications, and blog posts, etc.
    • Consolidate and give linguistic feedback to the external translators, to educate them on issues as well as Dropbox tone and style
    • Maintain and report on quality metrics associated with translators
  • Address localization questions, concerns, or queries from internal or external partners.
  • Translate ad hoc urgent requests when needed.
  • Live on localized products and provide quality feedback to the LPM team.

Key Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Linguistics/Translation/language-related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in translation/editing/linguistic review (consumer and enterprise products)
  • Native German speaker
  • Familiarity with culture, industry trends, and daily habits in your native language, and ability to bring these to the product (to ensure product does not seem linguistically outdated)
  • Jira or other bug tracking tool competency
  • Familiarity with Dropbox products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and effectively multitask
  • Quality and detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Requirements

  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus
  • Knowledge of CAT (computer-aided translation) tools
  • Understanding of agile framework
  • Knowledge of software development cycle
