In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched a new service: Concentric by Ginkgo. We firmly believe that testing is an essential requirement to re-open the economy as quickly and safely as possible. Concentric is the largest provider of K-12 COVID-19 testing. We currently run state-level K-12 testing programs in more than 10 states and some of the nation’s largest school districts. To date, Concentric has sequenced more than 10,000 samples from a variety of sample types, in support of public health.
Our Legal Team is focused on providing creative solutions for the groundbreaking endeavors that Ginkgo drives forward. We strive for agility, efficiency, and collaboration in our work, and enthusiastic irreverence in our team-building activities. We’re seeking a talented, creative, motivated, and energetic Corporate Counsel to join our Concentric team. In this role, you will provide counsel on various matters, including contractual matters, FDA and healthcare, data privacy and a variety of other legal and business issues. Reporting to our Associate General Counsel for Concentric, you will be part of an exciting, high growth company and a dynamic legal team. Your role will be critical to the success of our growing biosecurity offering.

Responsibilities

  • Help to build the legal function at Ginkgo by supporting various corporate, regulatory and compliance matters with a dynamic team of lawyers
  • Enhance our biosecurity business by working with the Concentric by Ginkgo team, providing transactional support for Concentric testing initiatives and other business endeavors
  • Assist our commercial, procurement and operations teams to implement and monitor compliance measures in an ever-changing regulatory environment
  • Liaise with outside counsel and counterparties as required 
  • Thorough contracting experience with distributors, suppliers and service providers in an insurance-reimbursed industry
  • Help train internal clients on contracting and compliance policies, procedures and systems as required
  • Integrate functional best practices and efficiencies while reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, service agreements, collaboration agreements, consulting agreements, material transfer agreements, acquisitions and other contracts
  • Stay updated on new laws regulations, and industry trends affecting the business unit

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • JD and licensed to practice law in the United States
  • 3+ years’ experience practicing law in a law firm and/or a corporation

  • Experience with healthcare fraud and abuse laws, FDA labeling and promotional matters, antitrust, and privacy and data protection laws is preferred
  • Creative, strategic thinker with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Thoughtful legal advisor with a strong commitment to personal and professional ethics and integrity
  • Experience using a contract lifecycle management system is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability adapt quickly and multi-task various matters
