The Strategic Finance Analyst role will support all of Kraken’s strategic finance needs including modelling business scenarios, tracking performance metrics, and working with leaders to make strategic company decisions. You are an ambitious individual who is excited by the challenge of solving tough, often ambiguous problems in this dynamic space. You are able to make well-informed recommendations based on data and analysis. You can communicate your findings and recommendations verbally and in concise and actionable reports. Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn everything cryptocurrency are a requirement for this role.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business / Finance
  • 2-3 years of experience in Corporate lending - revolvers, term loans, bonds, etc.
  • Successfully completed / passed a bank credit training program
  • Tech / fintech coverage 
  • Comfortable with managing multiple currencies / working at a global company 
  • Knowledge and experience with loan documentation (i.e. credit agreements, collateral agreements, blocked account control agreements, etc.). 
  • Responding to and working with lenders. 
  • Problem solver: ability to navigate internal networks to find solutions. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.  
  • Team player: work well with others and have a team first attitude.
  • Customer obsession: always act in a way to do what's right for the customer.
  • Startup mentality: everything can be improved, you do not stick with the status quo, and can work independently. 
  • Not afraid to be transparent and disagree / think differently - do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. 
  • Comfortable with data, spreadsheets, creating presentations, and dashboards.
  • Ownership: demonstrate leadership abilities to help drive processes, initiatives, and deliver results in a timely manner. 
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. 
  • Excited to solve complex problems and challenges. 
  • Passion for and knowledge of crypto.

What you'll do:

  • Supporting the Strategic Finance Manager with existing and new debt:  
  • Credit agreement negotiations, loan syndication, and lender diligence.
  • Understanding the mechanics of a loan.  
  • Monitoring covenants. 
  • Processing interest payments. 
  • Maintaining spreadsheets, models, and lender materials. 
  • Attending and participating in external lender meetings.
  • Supporting the Strategic Finance Manager with executing our capitalization strategy:
  • Determining how we can achieve the lowest cost of capital.  
  • Executing various balance sheet and working capital strategies. 
  • Participating in joint meetings to determine optimal sources and uses of debt. 
  • Coordinating with accounting, tax, legal, compliance, regulatory, treasury, etc. 
  • Helping to prepare management reports. 
  • Staying up to date on the decentralized finance industry. 
  • Looking for process improvement opportunities.
