About the TeamFanatics Trading Cards is a new company working at the intersection of trading cards and technology. Backed by some of the best investors, sports properties and operators in the world, we are integrating with Fanatics’ global digital sports platform – which includes 900 sports relationships and more than 81 million reachable fans - to reimagine the trading card business for the 21st century.
Director, Gaming at Fanatics Trading Cards drives and executes the brand’s strategies in the area of trading card games (TCG – type cards), physical formats and/or media & merchandising initiatives with a focus on enhanced consumer experiences, innovative live events and marketing. This position will work cross-functionally with other teams at the company, as well as other verticals within the Fanatics umbrella, serving as quarterback to execute on opportunities that will drive key company objectives and business growth for gaming. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential to build trading card games for sports or other culture and entertainment properties or ways to use existing assets in a game format
  • Directs the creation and execution of strategies that identify new product, new market, and new physical and tech gaming opportunities including packaging and pricing
  • Brings strong knowledge of trading card gaming, play and entertainment, consumers, collectors, and hobbyists
  • Guide product development and go-to-market processes
  • Support new game development projects by being a point of contact between the business development team and key stakeholders across the organization to leverage consumer insights, identify white space for brand growth, and development of breakthrough product
  • Craft business plans to expand and enhance TCG by supporting business development
  • Responsible for developing, curating and owning relationships with external market partners in the gaming, play, and entertainment space
  • Develop imaginative solutions and new ways of thinking about solutions, problems and opportunities.

Education & Experience

  • Qualified candidates will have deep experience working with TCG companies like Pokemon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh or other
  • Prior experience building a smaller company into a larger one preferred.
  • Adept in creating and developing strategic plans, and sales/profit maximization required
  • Solid track record of being a leader with strong team management/development and communication skills
  • Must be capable of handling multiple priorities and time sensitivities in a fast-paced environment
