Position Summary

PhD Science Curriculum Developers work together with a team to develop a comprehensive science curriculum. A curriculum developer’s primary focus is the development and revision of lessons and supporting materials. Curriculum developers may also support the development of additional products, alternate versions of existing materials, or professional development. Some curriculum developer roles may include finalizing content, coaching, or other management responsibilities. Responsibilities

All Positions:

• Demonstrate deep knowledge of instructional design and pedagogy

• Develop curriculum resources with content and pedagogy of the highest quality and reflective of the Great Minds philosophy

• Contribute to the creation of professional development curriculum and present at programs, workshops, and institutes offered by Great Minds.


Curriculum Developer:

• Support the development of vision documents (storyline and revision plans) as directed by the lead curriculum developer
• Outline and design lessons from a vision document that demonstrate the clear progression of science concepts for students, teacher directions and notes, guiding questions, three-dimensional learning activities and assessments
• Revise lessons as indicated as outlined by the lead content developer through feedback and team workshops
• Help create scaffolds/accommodations to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners, students with special needs, students performing below grade level, and students performing above grade level.
• Participate in regular communication with the program team to ensure that lesson development is completed in a timely manner and meets the highest standards of quality, achieving the program goals for accurate content and presentation in a developmentally appropriate sequence within and across grade bands.


Senior Curriculum Developer:

• Coordinate with the lead content developer to create vision documents (storyline and revision plans) that drive project development
• Outline and design lessons from a vision document that demonstrate the clear progression of science concepts for students, teacher directions and notes, guiding questions, three-dimensional learning activities and assessments
• Revise and finalize assigned sections of content before content proceeds to the review or to the science editorial team
• Manage asset requests, text approvals, and material lists for the project
• Consult with the program team to ensure that lesson development is completed in a timely manner and meets the highest standards of quality, achieving the program goals for accurate content and presentation in a developmentally appropriate sequence within and across grade bands.
• Coach content developers through read behinds, workshops, and one-on-one meetings


Lead Curriculum Developer:

• Lead the development of vision documents (storyline and revision plans) that outline the clear progression of science concepts for students, clear directions for teachers, and demonstrate thoughtful NGSS three-dimensional design of learning activities and assessments
• Guide the development of lessons and implementation of revision plans to support a coherent progression of student knowledge and three-dimensional integration within learning activities and assessments
• Ensure all lesson activities and assessments are revised and finalized to the highest standards of quality for three-dimensional learning prior to delivery
• Manage progress towards large-scale project timelines, working with other team leads, supervisors, and additional stakeholders to ensure project completion.
• Elicit and engage in collaboration with the broader program team to discuss module development, timelines, process documents, feedback loops, alignment to the NGSS standards, and other topics as they arise during module development.
• Manage a team of writers with drafting of lessons and implementing revision plans, including assigning tasks to writers, managing timelines, providing feedback and coaching, and performing read behinds to ensure high-quality module content

Requirements

All Positions:

• Superior writing skills with demonstrated writing ability. (Successful candidates will be required to complete a writing vetting task.)
• Comfortable with technology and able to learn new applications.


Curriculum Developer:

• Deep content knowledge in Science with a Bachelors or Masters in an associated content area.
• Minimum of three years teaching experience.
• Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards.


Senior Curriculum Developer:

• Deep content knowledge in Science with a Bachelors or Masters in an associated content area.
• Minimum of five years teaching experience.
• Preferred 2 years curriculum development experience
• K-12 classroom teaching experience implementing the NGSS or other innovative classroom practice.


Lead Curriculum Developer:

• Deep content knowledge in Science with a Masters in an associated content area.
• Minimum of five years teaching experience.
• Minimum 2 years curriculum development or publishing experience
• Extensive experience developing 3-Dimensional instructional materials that support teachers implementing the NGSS and the vision described in A Framework for K-12 Science Education (2012).
• Experience managing teams to develop content, including coaching, project management, and performance evaluation.

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. For residents of the State of Colorado the expected salary range for this position is $63,353.99 – $74,440.94. This range may vary above and below the expected amounts in the State of Colorado. In addition to the Company's benefit offerings, the position may be eligible for additional annual incentives at the Company's discretion. Any offered salary and other incentives are based on market data, applicant skills and relevant experience, degrees, certifications and internal equity considerations.
