About the Role 
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Payroll Manager oversees and manages all bi-weekly payroll functions and processes organizational-wide for our 600+ employees.
This is a highly collaborative position and the ideal candidate will manage several workflows simultaneously across multiple geographic locations and states. The Payroll Manager is the sole member of the Payroll function at this time and will also be a representation of Thistle’s mission and values, working to continuously improve our organizational payroll functions as we continue to grow.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You'll Do

  • Build a structure for the team by helping to identify, establish, and improve new and current SOP’s and procedures for all organizational payroll functions
  • Develop and maintain payroll functions utilizing Paycom(HRIS and Payroll system) and other benefit administration platforms.
  • Manage, maintain, and review payroll processing functions to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions for hourly and salaried employees including benefits, garnishments, taxes, tips, bonuses, mileage, and cell phone reimbursements 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and regulations spanning across multiple geographic locations and states, in partnership with People Ops
  • Collaborate with People Operations and work with benefits broker to administer Thistle’s Benefits and 401k Plans ensuring that all billing is reconciled and all open enrollment and benefits changes are captured
  • Work with People Ops and Finance teams to plan and register employer IDs in new states as our organization grows
  • Prepare and maintain all internal, federal, and state-mandated payroll compliance reporting including labor costs, EEOC, ADA, and HRCO related requirements, in partnership with People Ops
  • Analyze payroll data based on department and pay type; continuously improve the payroll system
  • Collaborate with the insurance carriers and State agencies to determine worker’s comp classification; understand the worker’s comp policy and manage auditor reports 
  • Work in collaboration with People Operations, accounting, and department managers to resolve payroll issues

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years hands-on experience independently managing and administering employee payroll; experience 
  • Strong experience working with both non-exempt and exempt employee workforce
  • Experience managing payroll in a growing company operating in multiple states 
  • Experience with HRIS and Payroll software implementation and buildout highly preferred
  • Experience with Paycom and manufacturing payroll setup for an hourly populationa huge plus!
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and regulations spanning across multiple states
  • A tech-savvy approach; comfortability and mastery using multiple platforms including G-Suite, Microsoft Office(strong Excel skills),and Slack
  • Excellentconcise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; must be a team player 
  • Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
  • Outstanding time management or organizational skills
  • A dynamic personality & maintains grace under pressure
