The Director of Operations position is for a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in FANATICAL support
Provide direct team leadership to supporting managers and coaching to an operations team charged with managing business operations
Expected to think 12-36 months out and strategically direct the team towards goals
Expected to lead by example
Works cross-functionally with other business leaders, and on business issues that affect and improve Rackspace as a company in addition to team goals
Exceptional management and people skills; the ability to engage and motivate staff
Responsible for all departmental personnel matters, including the hiring of skilled personnel, performance management, pay reviews, etc
Oversees pay administration and performance management system
Directs the activities of a broad functional area. Receives overall review of department performance

You Will:

  • Provides support, coaching and leadership to a team of highly skilled people in their pursuit of excellence
  • Manages monthly/quarterly/yearly goals
  • Sets strategic direction for team 18-36 months out
  • Prepares reports and keeps executive management informed of group strengths
  • Develops, establishes standards and procedures for the team
  • Ensures team training is adequate to meet customer demands
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks, and able to prioritize and highly varied work level in order to maintain required productivity levels

You Have:

  • Demonstrated mastery of manager role or possesses a minimum of 10 or more years working knowledge of a technology-based service-oriented industry as a people manager/leader
  • At least 6 years of developing and leading people and teams
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in running medium to large scale projects of varying complexities
  • Must have strong leadership, follow-up and customer service skills
  • Positive attitude with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in order to maintain required productivity and service levels
  • High energy level and creative problem-solving abilities, coupled with a desire to manage a team of dynamic individuals
  • Excellent knowledge of company's objectives and strategies
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making and communications skills
  • Uses skills as a seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
  • Excellent knowledge of servers/computer hardware and software a plus- or an aptitude and desire to expand technical knowledge
  • Uses professional concepts; applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibits excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent creative problem-solving abilities, coupled with a desire to take on responsibility


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer science; master's degree in business or computer science preferred
