VP Engineering / Remote / Product / Full-TimeTL;DR: Hypergrowth startup seeking VP of Engineering. You will help us empower the most ambitious people in the world to start companies, join companies, and level up their careers.

What you'll do

  • Help us scale the product engineering team from 25 to 50-80 people
  • Hire further leadership people and/or experienced senior engineers
  • Establish a culture of engineering excellence
  • Improve productivity
  • Improve automation and quality
  • Introduce projects around PII, auditing, etc.
  • Establish a culture of management excellence in the individual engineering teams
  • Help us transform On Deck to be a fully product-led organization
  • Making sure product is top of mind
  • Making sure we experiment with ideas quickly
  • Making sure we are able to manage the complexity of our products (debt, migrations, etc.)
  • Involve other departments into roadmaps and strategies but also keep them accountable

This role might be for you if you

  • Want to build the future of the startup ecosystem – enabling talented people around the world build companies, relationships, and careers together
  • See the big opportunity in joining a startup that has some very clear product-market-fit, but hasn't won the market quite yet
  • Have experience in a rapidly growing company with high degrees of ambiguity; perhaps you've been a founder yourself
  • Are excited about leading and growing a team of experienced engineering managers and engineers
  • Want to have a direct influence on business strategy and company direction
  • Understand technical problems and can provide high-level solutions to the team

This role is probably not for you if you

  • Want to grow as a people leader but are not comfortable diving into technical problems with the team
  • Want to be a people leader in a engineering org but have not yet been a leader or manager of a full team
  • Want to work in a company where direction is clear, there are playbooks to follow, and engineers do the bidding of PMs

LocationOur team works remotely and we are excited about candidates globally. Please note that most of our product engineering team works between GMT-8 and GMT+3. We work fairly asynchronously but candidates from these regions will be preferred.
