How you’ll make an impact
As a Product Insights Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering high quality data analysis and insights to enable fast decision making and strategic design. You will be able to frame up the questions to answer, identify critical data points and analytical methods to produce insights and tell a clear, concise story to help your internal stakeholders solve problems. Your analysis will span our end-to-end customer journeys, across multiple systems, platforms and channels.
You will be a key member of the Product Insights and Analytics team, with a focus on delivering data driven insights to enable the UK Tax portfolio to make data driven product decisions to reduce the burden of tax obligations on Small Business. 
The Product Insights & Analytics team is predominantly based in the southern hemisphere so there will be an expectation to work some odd hours.  However the demand for work will be from the product teams within the UK and this will be during standard working hours. Due to being isolated we are looking for someone with senior level experience so they can hit the ground running and work with stakeholders across all levels of the business, from developers to leaders.

In this role you will:

  • Help drive product development decisions by sizing opportunities and providing a data driven understanding of the current customer behaviours
  • Work with large datasets and gain exposure to modern cloud based data platforms
  • Generate product insights using a range of analytical techniques and tools
  • Interpret insights and apply business context, to answer key business questions
  • Investigate and identify any data quality issues and work with other team’s across Xero to resolve them
  • Help with our journey to deliver best practice behavioural analytics
  • Use your data storytelling skills combined with modern analytic platforms to visualise insights by creating interactive dashboards and informative presentations
  • Present analysis to stakeholders, in a simple and compelling way
  • Work in a cross functional, software delivery team and build relationships with engineers, product & designers

Technical skills you will bring with you

  • Ability to tackle unfamiliar domains and work with complex and diverse datasets
  • Effectively and independently source and join data from multiple sources using SQL / R / Python
  • Use your data wrangling skills to transform data and create features in preparation for analysis
  • Produce metrics, models and/or insights to answer product related questions
  • Experience in delivering analytics in the form of visualisations and interactive dashboards
  • Ability to analyse complex data and deliver meaningful, actionable insights to stakeholders in a clear and digestible way
  • Experience with Python or R or dbt ideal, but not required (but a desire to learn is required)
  • We aren’t looking for a specific degree, we’re looking for a logical thinker who can logically solve a problem, but you may have a statistics, mathematics or computer science background

  • Customer-centric mindset, with proven ability to recommend opportunities that drive successful customer outcomes, while balancing commercial implications
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity, context switching and coming up with innovative problem solving solutions
