We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to join our Guidewire Cloud Operations organization.  The Cloud Operations team helps customers transform and evolve their business leveraging Guidewire’s software products and hosted infrastructure. As part of an entrepreneurial team in this rapidly growing business, you will help build Guidewire’s future business by shaping the future of how technology is used as a Software Service supporting the Insurance business.  The Role As part of the Technical Program Management team, you will provide project management and play a key role in the ongoing development and maturity of the Guidewire Cloud offering.  You will work with senior members of the team to define project deliverables pertinent to the organization.  On a day-to-day basis, you may be involved in project management and coordination required in the areas of service management, system restoration, cloud infrastructure, information security, product update planning and execution, and devops tasks such as build and release management. You will contribute to the definition of overall program methodologies and best practices.  No matter what task you face on a given day, you will collaborate closely with an impressive team of peers whose primary goal is our customer’s success.  We particularly value demonstrated leadership capability and presence, project management experience, excellent organization skills, negotiation skills, and of course the ability to work well as part of an overall organization. 

Responsibilities

  • Apply expert judgement to keep teams focused, remove impediments and deliver success in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  
  • Wired for continuous improvement, understand retrospective, name that PDCA tune 
  • Ability to power highly collaborative, delivery-focused teams that are distributed and develop stellar cross-functional relationships 
  • Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent teams from delivering on stated objectives. 
  • Provides visibility to team impediments/risks and helps eliminate them 
  • Reviews with team regular performance updates and/or reviews for identifications of variances and corrective actions 
  • Raise concerns based on measurement criteria to supervision and provide recommendations to maximize productivity 
  • Focus more on delivery and results rather than ideology 
  • Work with senior team members to continually identify and implement team process improvements 
  • Help teams achieve project goals while being aware of and sensitive to the overall business goals 
  • Lead and contribute to the decision-making process and facilitate conflict resolution 
  • Demonstrate strong technical and software engineering background in particular in the areas of Cloud Computing, enterprise computing, servers, networking, and virtualization technology and products  
  • Ability to clearly communicate functional and technical requirements to a remote team 
  • Professional communication capability, timely response procedures, and understand sense of urgency 
  • Help build and maintain executive and operational dashboards, project plans, risk logs, project briefs, process plans, project status presentations, etc. 
  • Work closely with all parties involved in implementation or cloud migration programs to effectively facilitate cross-functional planning and prioritization meetings 
  • Identify, coordinate, and manage tasks pertaining to the preparation and launch into the Guidewire Cloud. 
  • Support senior management by updating and preparing communications regarding status updates and change management  
  • Support program management team by preparing regular project updates/dashboards  
  • Drive alignment and work effectively with cross-functional teams across various disciplines who may have competing priorities. 
  • Contribute to a team environment that will have both local and remote leadership. 
  • Occasional high priority work outside of established business hours may be necessary (i.e., to help with urgent customer issues). 
  • Role is remote based, however has potential for occasional travel to Guidewire offices (20% or less).

  • Understanding of CI/CD, Source Control and AWS 
  • Comfort being in a dynamic role that is not always fully defined and that will mature with our solution offerings 

Required Experience

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing enterprise software development and/or implementation teams within a corporate IT or consulting environment  
  • 2-4 years previous programming, services, support or similar technical field experience 
  • 2-4 years with commercial software experience: such as customer incident tracking systems, work effort management, etc.
