Wealthsimple Magazine, “An Online Money Magazine for People Who Care About More than Money,” is the editorial arm Wealthsimple, run by the former longtime Editorial Director of GQ Magazine. Within the Magazine we will be launching a new Education section aimed at teaching people about finance, the principles of investing, taxes, crypto, etc. We’re looking for an editor (with a side of project management) to head up this new section. The role will involve transitioning the current Learn pages on Wealthsimple into a new integrated magazine vertical, specializing in service and explainer content. This role will lead the curation and organization of the existing content, the re-writing of content that needs to be refreshed or improved, overseeing the launch of the new section, as well as assigning and editing all new stories for the Education pages. The role will also be involved in translating education content for in-app and social distribution.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Act as lead editor for Wealthsimple Magazine’s Education section
  • Re-launch a new version of the Education vertical
  • Own stories from concept to publication including assigning, editing, and ensuring relevant stakeholders are consulted as needed
  • Source new writers who have a relatable but smart voice and a good understanding of topics
  • Coordinate with teams across the company, including Product teams, Investment Research, Portfolio Management, and Marketing, to make sure the content we’re creating meets the needs of our business
  • Curate existing content and edit the most important pieces to bring them up to the quality of the rest of the magazine
  • Work with the Social team to translate education piece for social-first content
  • Work with the UX team to make in-app content from education pieces

We're looking for someone who:

  • Brings 5+ years of experience in an editorial role (at a media outlet is a bonus!)
  • Can organize a large amount of content into something pleasing, manageable, interesting and above all incredibly useful
  • Has excellent editing skills. You can take a story from idea to publication, with an eye for relevance, narrative and voice and make it best in class
  • Isn’t necessarily an expert in financial topics, but is driven to become one 🚀
