Overview:
The successful candidate must have strong people management, software development, large-scale system design, & leadership skills
The successful candidate will be responsible for a team delivering timely, high-quality products to our Public Cloud infrastructure, as well as working with peers globally to drive operational improvements across our Public Cloud organization
Manages one or more software development teams on projects of moderate to large size and complexity
Often responsible for the product design of one or more product lines. Recommends most efficient way to produce new products
Evaluate progress and results of development efforts
Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews of software developers

You Will:

  • Manages moderate-sized software development projects, usually within an assigned product line
  • Ensures projects are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards
  • Facilitates communication upward and across project team including project status, justifications for variances, and technical information (architecture, design and implementation objectives)
  • Serves as a focal point for other departments on project status or other project information. Organizes projects through the development of a Project Plan
  • Ensures projects are completed according to product specifications and are properly documented
  • Implementation of the product satisfies the product specifications
  • Product architecture and implementation are maintainable and extendible to accommodate future development and maintenance (architecture documentation and architecture design review)
  • Ensures that: a) Documentation gets the appropriate level of technical review support b) QA test plans meet the project requirements c) Appropriate development and corporate methods and procedures are followed
  • Manages personnel activities of staff (i.e., hires, trains, appraises, rewards, motivates, disciplines, recommends termination as necessary).

You Have:

  • 7-10 years of technical experience in software development including a minimum of 1 year of project leadership experience
  • Proven experience in leading software product development projects
  • Excellent knowledge of modern software design, development, and deployment procedures
  • Familiar with Linux, standard software development tools, including incident tracking, documentation, and testing systems.
  • Skilled with PCs and various office productivity software applications.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making, collaboration, and communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in the development of, or management of, OpenStack software projects
  • Experience developing in Python

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Software Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited institution required; advanced degree preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
