Fraud Operations @ Wealthsimple
Fraud Operations is a critical component of our fraud risk management practices at Wealthsimple. Resolving fraud concerns on clients accounts in a timely and accurate manner is critically important in protecting Wealthsimple and our clients from fraud. This group is also continually focused on improving our processes and procedures to provide the best possible client experience at market leading operational efficiency.
The Fraud Operations team will encompass both the business process management and the customer facing resolution of fraud concerns. This role will partner closely with engineering and analytical groups within the Fraud domain as well as the broader customer experience organization.

The Role
Clients of Wealthsimple trust us with their money for day to day spending, stock trading, retirement, their children's education, or their first home. This trust is paramount to the success of Wealthsimple. We are looking for a Director of Fraud Operations who will provide great client experiences to protect their trust.
Wealthsimple is a fintech company which makes it an attractive target for fraud and other financial crimes. In this role you will build a team of teams around fraud process management and operations. You will provide mentorship to your team and act as a people lead, while reporting to the VP of Fraud and Risk.

Your core responsibilities are

  • Build a best-in-class Fraud Operations team that excels in fraud detection, investigation and case resolution.
  • Scale the team to effectively fight new and emerging threats.
  • Grow the fraud investigations team and build an efficient function for retrieving funds that have been lost due to fraud.
  • Leverage new operational tooling and strong process design to reduce case SLAs while increasing accuracy
  • Collaborate with other business units to ensure sufficient operations capacity exists to support product growth and emerging fraud trends

We are looking for someone who

  • Is a builder: you love building inclusive and diverse teams and building out new operational functions
  • Has a risk management mindset and is focused on building resilient business practices
  • Has experience leading large operations teams and lean/ six sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Is able to think cross-functionally across operations, analytics and customer experience
  • Has worked as a leader of fraud operations teams for 5+ years.
  • Able to balance the interests of our customers (frictionless & instant user experience) and the financial risk of Wealthsimple.
  • Able to tailor our fraud fighting narrative to their audience using their excellent communication skills
