Color’s Core Experience team defines and builds an extensible developer framework & services to power intuitive healthcare experiences. The team’s work enables other engineering teams at Color to quickly build inclusive, engaging experiences for healthcare participants that feel immediately familiar. This team is directly responsible for the next phase of Color’s healthcare building blocks.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Lead the design and implementation of an extensible “core experience” layer that abstracts many of the core concepts that are common to Color’s entire product portfolio.
  • Create new services and SDKs that Color engineers can use to build faster, richer applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, operations and scientific research teams to define and build stable foundations for participant healthcare experiences to address long-standing problems in healthcare.
  • As a founding member of the Core Experience team, set the tone and technical direction for the team as it grows.
  • Take an active role in mentoring and onboarding other engineers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Drive engineering practices across the team and the wider engineering organization to achieve a high level of agility and technical and product quality.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • You’re passionate about using software and technology to help save lives, prevent catastrophic disease, and want to apply your skills in the service of a greater mission.
  • You have 7+ years of industry experience as a software engineer (or equivalent role).
  • You have 1+ years of experience leading teams of engineers building and maintaining complex engineering systems.
  • You've built and launched numerous features, products and/or systems successfully into the wild and iterated to incorporate user feedback.
  • You maintain a high bar for quality of code and work methodically to eliminate unnecessary duplication and awkward workarounds.
  • You're passionate about rigorous engineering practices and discipline: code reviews, automated testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc, etc.
  • You effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical collaborators: you identify core challenges in complex situations, explain trade offs, and incorporate feedback to make decisions using code reviews, docs, wikis, meetings, and other channels as needed.
  • You leverage off-the-shelf components when possible, with good judgment about what to use and where to find it.
  • You have experience with the layers of modern web stacks.

Nice to Have:

  • You have experience with Color’s stack, including Python, Django, AWS, SQL, REST APIs, React, HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+.
