Fraud @ WealthsimpleThe Fraud Operations team lives within Wealthsimple’s Fraud Group which is part of Data Science & Engineering Organization. Wealthsimple’s Fraud Group encompasses both engineering and operational aspects of fraud: prevention, detection and investigation.
About the roleThe Fraud Operations Analyst will be responsible for evaluating incidents of suspected financial crime committed against Wealthsimple and its customers and make recommendations about future measures. The analyst will proactively identify potential financial crime through in-depth analysis, and effectively respond to reported claims of financial crime. 

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive, detailed investigations of suspected financial crime activity
  • Engage in critical thinking and leverage data analysis techniques and pattern detection to uncover financial crime
  • Utilize internal systems and tools for obtaining information and documenting cases
  • Remediate activity deemed fraudulent/suspicious as per industry and business best practices
  • Manage multiple cases at a time and maintain case closure Service Level Agreements within specified timeframes
  • Participate in weekly and monthly calibration sessions with peers and relevant internal staff to identify financial crime trends 

Some things we consider critical for this role:

  • 1+ years work experience in fraud-specific financial crime investigations within financial services domain
  • High attention to detail and the ability to think strategically
  • Resourceful, persistent and able to thrive in fast pace environment
  • Ability to gather/analyze large amounts of data and be adept at using/managing spreadsheets and other methods of gathering, sorting and analyzing data
  • Great communication skills, both verbally and via written reports
