About the Role:We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on, results-driven accounting leader to join our Revenue Accounting team. You will partner closely with Sales, Sales Operations, Legal, and other cross-functional teams. In addition, you will serve as a subject matter expert on revenue accounting and engage with the business to provide revenue recognition compliant solutions, including contract reviews and process improvements.
Matterport is a remote workplace with headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. This position can be based remotely in the Bay Area or United States. #LI-Remote

What you will do:

  • Lead the month-end service revenue close tasks by validating accruals, reviewing account reconciliations, journal entries, and conducting fluctuation analyses
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to automate order-to-revenue processes for the service revenue stream while ensuring SOX readiness and supporting business growth
  • Review customer contracts (pre-execution), communicate revenue impact, structure deals and provide solutions aligns with the business objective, and ensure in compliance with Matterport's revenue recognition policies
  • Review, evaluate and document the accounting treatment for contract (post-execution) with customers 
  • Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility
  • Maintain SSP analysis

Who you are:

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in Accounting or Finance roles
  • A mix of Big 4 and industry experience preferred
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP specifically with ASC 606 in a SaaS high growth company
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences
  • Must be a proactive & highly organized self-starter, able to work independently and under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience with NetSuite, Zuora, and AirTable preferred
