IT Support Specialist / Remote / IT / Full-TimeTL;DR: Fast-growing early-stage startup seeking an IT Support Specialist. In doing so, we’ll empower the most ambitious people in the world to build the future. Details below!
About On DeckOn Deck is a global community where ambitious, talented people start and scale companies and invest in their careers, among a cohort of their peers.
BackgroundWe are seeking a highly motivated IT Support Specialist who wants to work in a rapidly evolving, fully international, and remote startup environment. This role presents a unique opportunity to expand your working knowledge and experience of IT fundamentals while supporting an extremely diverse group of end-users from around the world.
Strong Apple laptop troubleshooting skills and SaaS experience are a huge plus. You would have an understanding of core fundamentals like SSO, SAML, SCIM, and MDM. (Hands-on experience with these core fundamentals is a bonus!)
Not just dealing with ambiguity but seeing it as an opportunity to help the company grow its internal practices. Despite having end users all around the world, you are NOT expected to be online or available at all times but during your regularly scheduled local time. On Deck is reaching the "hypergrowth" phase of a startup and we need an IT Support Specialist that wants to jump onto that rocket alongside us.

Your experience:

  • 1-year minimum experience in IT Service Desk or equivalent role (such as Apple Store Genius Bar)
  • Experience with ticketing systems preferred
  • Knowledgeable about Apple product ecosystem (ACMT is a huge plus)
  • Surface level understanding about concepts like SSO, SAML, MDM, SCIM
  • Hands-on experience with Kandji, Slack Admin, OneLogin Admin, and Google Workspace Admin is a huge plus

Your skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting experience (Least invasive to most invasive methodology)
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate with a solution in mind
  • Attention to detail, self-starter, flexibility to changes in a rapidly growing and ever-changing startup.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills over digital mediums with multiple cross-functional teams.

What you will do:

  • Tier 1 tickets through our IT Service Desk, escalating to Tier 2/3 when necessary
  • Acting as a point of contact for end-users
  • Leading on-boarding presentations with new hires
  • Facilitating employee off-boarding and retrieval of assets from departing employees
  • Purchasing laptops and accessories for new hires
  • Provisioning access to SaaS applications
  • Documentation of issues found and employee-facing guides/troubleshooting
  • Asset managing newly deployed laptops and ensuring proper setup

Why you might be excited about us:

  • We’re tackling a big problem with even bigger potential. Participants in our existing Fellowships say great things about us.
  • You’ll be able to work remotely and (mostly) set your own schedule. On Deck was a remote-first team even before COVID, so we know what makes for a great remote environment.
  • You'll have a lot of flexibility in your role, and will be able to help define what our candidate experience looks like going forward.
  • We're backed by a who’s who of the biggest names in the venture investing world, including Village Global, Keith Rabois, Balaji Srinivasan, Bloomberg Beta, and so many more. (Read more about our Series A in this memo)

Why you might *not* be excited about us:

  • We are a young company with about 200 people, so if you like more established companies, this role isn’t for you. You'll help create our company's culture.
  • We're an early-stage startup. Projects and priorities are likely to shift.
  • Everyone on the team is extremely mission-driven and works incredibly hard to push towards our lofty ambitions. Most people won’t be cut out for it.
  • You should be comfortable with just a dash of chaos. This is not the kind of job where you show up and we tell you exactly what to do every day.
  • On Deck is an unabashedly pro-startup, pro-tech organization. If that’s not your thing, this isn’t the place for you.
CompensationThis role comes with a competitive salary, stock options, you can take any PTO you need, anytime you need, and employee benefits including generous healthcare.
LocationOur team works remotely, and we are excited about candidates globally.  Please note that our team works on GMT-7 PST-friendly hours. You would start as soon as possible.
Equal Opportunity EmployerOn Deck is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce. All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need. We strongly encourage applications who are members of underrepresented communities to apply.
On Deck is a fully distributed team and everyone works remotely. As such, we are unable to assist with visa or work authorization support. By applying you are representing that you are legally authorized to work in your country of residence. If you are hired, you will be required to provide documentation of your identity and eligibility for employment in your country of residence during the hiring process.
If you were to join On Deck, we'd want you to love it. We also know that it can be hard to tell from the outside looking in whether that would be the case for you. So, we challenged ourselves to develop an honest set of reasons someone wouldn't want to join our company. We hope it helps you make an informed decision about whether On Deck is a place you'd love to work. In summary, On Deck may not be the place for you if:
• Another company's mission gets you way more fired up.• You want a 9-5 job.• You do your best work in highly-structured, steady-paced, and meticulously-planned environments.• You like finding and poking holes more than you like filling them.• You see differences as divisions • You believe that something has to be exclusive for it to be cool You can read the details of why On Deck may not be the company for you on our Non-Values page.
