Reporting to Wealthsimple’s Director, Regulatory R&D, you will support Wealthsimple’s expansion into new product areas and growth initiatives while also helping to build a scaling machine.  

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support the development of Wealthsimple’s regulatory programs by developing tools and automation strategies to make them more efficient
  • Manage regulatory projects and initiatives that cross multiple teams, including engineering, product, ops and client success
  • Collaborate with engineering and product leadership on technical OKRs and roadmaps that interface with regulatory priorities
  • Create, identify and provide insight into metrics that will improve performance and drive decisions
  • Using SQL, build reports and dashboards for ongoing monitoring and regulatory requests
  • Build risk assessment, testing, monitoring, and employee training tools
  • Drive efficiency by identifying and automating processes to help the team scale
  • Lead special project work
  • Support cross-functional teams on the design and execution of products and features that satisfy regulatory requirements
  • Communicate applicable risks, costs, progress, and results to relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Use data to influence the direction of product roadmaps and inform business decisions
  • Support due diligence work required to evaluate third party vendors and partnerships for new products and growth initiatives

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated success owning projects and developing metrics in high growth organizations and working closely with engineering teams
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and leveraging business intelligence tools to drive analysis to insight; experience with SQL and other programming languages is an asset
  • Comfort with ambiguity; comfortable owning large-scale and ill-defined problems, identifying where effort and investment is warranted, and seeing solutions through to completion
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated expertise collaborating with a wide range of technical experts (e.g., developers, data scientists, etc.)
  • A clear bias for action and the ability to act without being told what to do, takes full ownership over work and seeks help and input when needed
  • Strong communication skills; a great listener, able to speak plainly and truthfully and an excellent written communicator, able to convey complex ideas in a simple and easy-to-understand way for any audience
  • Experience leading and driving change with and without authority
  • The ability to bring structure and organization to any environment; independently plans and organizes proactively, focusing on key priorities and adapting when required
  • Honesty and integrity; doesn't cut corners and does what is right, not what is politically expedient
