Responsibilities

  • Support to drive the development and implementation of business legal and regulatory compliance strategy and contribute to the development of the general business strategy
  • Act as contact point for business development and company legal and compliance team to manage legal and compliance efforts in response to matters encountered by the business, work with internal stakeholders to provide sound and robust legal advice and support
  • Anticipate and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current laws relevant to substantive areas to provide strategic advice and foster compliance
  • Identify compliance framework developments, align and promote consistency of approach in compliance matters between the internal stakeholders
  • Take prudent risks within the context of the overall business, and advise and implement solutions to address issues identified

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of regulatory experience in financial institutions
  • Experience applying for and acquiring EU derivatives licenses Strong experience of drafting and negotiating third party legal agreements including franchise agreements, financial service partnerships, SLA’s, trusts
  • Develop extensive subject matter experience in major European regulations (eg. MIFID, EMIR, SFTR, FMIA, EBA)
  • Consult on business and functional projects to facilitate compliant commercial activity
  • Own client relationships with a focus on excellent client regulatory serviceDevelop strong relationships with stakeholders in the business, engineering, compliance, and legal to support reporting functions
  • Train and motivate colleagues to achieve personal and departmental business and risk targets 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global organization maintaining close contact with relevant teams across multiple locations
  • Work with product/tech team on regulatory requirementsExcellent communication, negotiation & management skills
