Rackspace is looking for a Benefits Specialist II to join our Global Benefits team!

Key Responsibilities

  • Carries out moderately complex analysis assignments involving the development, implementation, and administration of benefit programs.
  • Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at a minimum cost to the organization and employees.
  • Determines appropriate retirement plan offering including, Defined Contribution (IRA, 401k), Defined Benefit (Profit-Sharing, ESOP), or hybrid plans (Cash Balance, Pension Equity).
  • Analyzes new and emerging benefits to meet the needs of a changing workforce, such as parental leave, child and elder care, long-term nursing home care insurance, employee assistance, wellness programs, or flexible benefits plans.
  • Researches benefit plans and providers and makes recommendations.
  • Administers health & welfare and retirement plans.
  • Reconciles monthly and periodic billings and invoices.
  • Compiles periodic and special reports on benefits matters for senior management.
  • Audits effectiveness of benefit programs on a regular basis.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g. ERISA, IRS, COBRA, HIPAA, DOL, ACA, etc.) of corporate benefit programs.
  • Remains current on all benefit policies, programs, and practices.
  • Stays informed of new and pending laws and regulations. 


  • Advanced knowledge of benefit policies and administration.
  • Global benefits is a plus.
  • Able to handle high level of confidentiality regarding employee information.
  • Advanced planning, time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to successfully work and promote inclusiveness in small groups. 

Experience & Education

  • Requires 5-7 years of benefits experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Liberal Arts (Psychology, Sociology, etc), Industrial Relations, or Organizational Development.
  • May require a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefit Professional (CBP) designation.
