LocationPlease note that this role is currently 100% remote through 2021, due to the pandemic. However, there is an option for this role to be remote or US office-based, based on the company policy and candidate fit.
Available offices for this role are in San Antonio, Texas.
Job Description SummaryRackspace is looking for a Senior Compensation Specialist to join our compensation team. This individual will perform staff support activities to develop, implement, and administer compensation policies and programs including audits jobs for content, and prepares job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties, and requirements.
In this role, you will participate in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine the company's competitive position and review proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies, and practices.      

Responsibilities

  • Performs non-complex compensation functions.
  • Reviews existing and proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • May prepare special studies and recommendations on subjects such as incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation, or stock options.
  • Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems.
  • Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignments.
  • Audits jobs for content and works with business representatives to develop job descriptions reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties, and requirements.
  • Assists with the merit review process.
  • Develops and/or participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine the company's competitive position.
  • Formulates recommendations regarding FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures.
  • Conducts analysis on subjects such as salary, incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation, or stock options.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • General knowledge to develop, implement, and administer compensation policies and programs
  • General knowledge to develop job descriptions and recommend appropriate salary grade assignments.
  • General knowledge regarding FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures.
  • Desire to work with numbers and formulas.
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of management and multi-task to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize time-sensitive issues.
  • Maintains accountability for assigned tasks and recognizes when escalation is necessary.
  • Ability to solve moderate to complex problems and take action and learn quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Intermediate understanding of Rackspace's the business and industry competitors.
  • Intermediate knowledge of principles and theories of compensation administration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of job analysis, documentation, and descriptions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of legal regulations affecting compensation administration, including, but not limited to, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Pay Act, Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
  • Ability to create and sustain productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Team player, able to work successfully as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other departments.
  • Ability to provide information to internal peers and stakeholders on compensation administration in layman's terms.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills in conducting analysis on subjects such as salary, incentive compensation, bonus plans, sales compensation, or stock options.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to focus on details.
  • Desire to work with numbers and formulas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel modeling required; MS Access skills a plus.

Education/Experience/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in compensation required, including experience with administration of domestic and international programs.
  • Professional certification in compensation preferred.
