We are looking for an experienced security engineer, architect or leader with experience in a Blue, Purple or Red Team role to help us fortify our defenses and protect the systems that help hungry people to order their food quickly and securely.
We want people who are passionate about finding risks, analyzing the related data and collaborating on the right strategic risk mitigation measures. Reducing risk while promoting and supporting innovation.
Reporting to the Director, Security Engineering the Staff Security Engineer will design and implement the security defenses that allow our systems to keep running while protecting the data of our clients and their customers.
Olo is a remote-first company and close to 90% of our engineering team is remote. As such, you can work remotely from anywhere in the U.S or at Olo's headquarters in New York City's Financial District.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with other Security Teams, Product and Engineering, Infrastructure, Corporate IT, Legal and P+C teams to build security in by design.
  • Work with customers and partners to strengthen their security posture
  • Engineer highly available, scalable, secure solutions that exceed our customers needs.
  • Guide ongoing optimizations by implementing new technologies, replacing technologies, and automating security activities.

  • Information Protection
  • Champion security awareness
  • Select, test, implement and maintain security tools and services
  • Find threats and risks to detect and avoid advanced threats
  • Manage vulnerability assessments, risk scoring and vulnerability resolution
  • Lead non-event driven security reviews, including concept reviews, design reviews, patching, firewall rules and system configuration checks

  • Incident Detection and Response
  • Improve incident response processes, tools and services
  • Detect and defend against attacks by analysing security-related events and alerts, and leading incident response, remediation and mitigation activities
  • Ensure incident reports are accurate, detailed, and applicable.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation if needed.

  • This includes but is not limited to security support requests, risk assessments, vendor assessments, PCI and SOC audit support and service provider management

What We'll Expect From You

  • Previous Blue Team, Purple Team, Red Team, Security Operations, Security Engineering, Security Architecture, DevOps or Operations experience
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology, evolving threats, attack patterns, incident response and cyber security standards
  • Experience developing and leading incident response, remediation and mitigation activities, and providing status updates and reports.
  • Background analyzing security events to discern events that qualify as a legitimate security incident as opposed to non-incidents. This includes security event triage, incident investigation, implementing countermeasures, and conducting incident response.
  • Experience with operating system, networking and application concepts
  • Experience hardening Windows, MacOS and Linux and any underlying virtualization
  • Familiarity with AWS security best practices and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Experience deploying, maintaining and administering security technologies. (e.g. Anti-Malware, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Data Leak Prevention (DLP), File Integrity Monitoring (FIM), Firewalls, Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM), Static Inspection, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), Vulnerability Assessment, Web Proxies and Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
  • 8+ years of Information Technology experience with a focus on Security
  • Ability to work on-call, during critical incidents or to support coverage requirements
