Position Description: The Rackspace Data team is seeking an experienced and versatile software developer who will join the team responsible for designing and developing large-scale cloud database services. You will work in a dynamic team environment to develop high quality releases. Love a challenge? Anyone can manage a single application - we manage and maintain thousands of production databases supporting billions of operations. You’ll be part of a highly capable and motivated team working on solving the hard problems of scalability, availability, and performance on a global platform.  Passion for software development and quality is a must! Position Requirements & ExperienceExperience with agile-like development processes, including continuous integration strategiesExperience managing common AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudFormation etc.)Writing infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform)Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and KubernetesKnowledge of configuration management frameworks such as Puppet, Chef or AnsibleKnowledge of MongoDB or other open source databasesKnowledge of Linux/Windows administration, automated deployments, scripting (Python/Go Lang)Experience with Go, Java, Ruby, jsFast learner, creative thinker, problem solverTeam player, highly motivated and self-manageableWilling to participate in on-call rotation that extends to non-working hours as neededExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsComfortable with collaborative tools such as github, confluence, Jira, and Microsoft TeamsAbility to translate functional requirements into conceptual and detailed designsAbility to implement proof of concept, prototypes, and production-grade softwareExperience with unit and acceptance tests; coordinating sign-off from QA/TestAction and detail oriented. Highly motivated to drive projects to completion Nice to Have:Prior experience with production large-scale distributed systemsDemonstrated ability to work with a large amount of independence and responsibilityUnderstand modern analytics and AI/ML technologies and servicesFamiliarity with modern ETL challenges and data warehouse / data lake solutionsAbility to work closely with information retrieval/machine learning experts on big data problemsA hunger for tracking down root causes -- no matter how deep it takes you -- and fixing them in systematic waysAWS Certifications preferred but not requiredBA/BS degree in Computer Science, Math, or related degree
