Location:This position is remote. Bixal does not provide visa sponsorship at this time. What will you do?As a skilled technical leader, you will identify and communicate risks, timelines, and new opportunities while encouraging cross-functional web development teams to collaborate to quality solutions effectively. You have the ability to build and mentor small teams of software engineers and keep clear and open communications with developers, project managers, and leadership. You are a trustworthy and empathetic leader who takes accountability for technical responsibilities and taskings.
The purpose of this role is to help us oversee projects and make sure best practices are being implemented as well as managing technical team members, providing technical and career growth guidance. 

Responsibilities:

  • Determine project requirements with project managers and business analysts to develop work schedules for the team.
  • Make sure requirements are defined in such a way that developers can understand them quickly.
  • Delegate tasks and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  • Act as a liaison with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to quality standards.
  • Identify risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible, in collaboration with project managers and leadership staff.
  • Update work schedules and performing troubleshooting as required.
  • Motivate staff and creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.
  • Write progress reports and delivering presentations to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Take full ownership and responsibility for the outcomes of your team.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience building software applications or products
  • 2+ years’ experience managing small or medium-sized (3-8 person) technical teams
  • Solid programming knowledge and background; be able to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to different work environments
  • Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills

Nice to Haves:

  • Relevant management training or management certifications
  • Technology certifications (Programming languages, CyberSecurity, Infrastructure, etc)
  • Federal experience
  • Web development experience
  • Previous Drupal or PHP experience
  • Ability to translate technical issues to non-technical team members and clients
  • Master’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field
