Position Summary:
As a Technical Writer at Vivun, you will visualize, create, and maintain educational content that is an integral part of the internal and external user experience of our products. The content you create and maintain will often be in the form of documentation, but may also be sample code, videos, guides or other educational or enablement material. Regardless of the content medium, the best technical writers are distinguished by their ability to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience. To succeed in this role, you must be passionate about writing, with a strong focus on clarity, technical details and straightforward storytelling. You should also learn new concepts quickly, be comfortable changing tasks frequently, and have experience writing for audiences of varying technical skills. As a technical writer at Vivun, you will work closely with Account Management, Product Management, Product Marketing and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, maintain, and improve Vivun’s product documentation, including procedure-based feature documentation, use-case-driven narrative guides, and technical topics sourced from Product Management and engineering contributors.
  • Work with product managers, developers, and designers to write and edit documentation for new features and product releases.
  • Scope, plan, create, and maintain technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with support, product marketing, and account management to address customer pains with documentation updates and improvements.
  • Respond to feedback on existing docs in a timely, effective manner.
  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others, and coach non-writers on ways to improve their writing skills.
  • Manage complex documentation projects.
  • Supplement developer documentation with relevant sample code.
  • Collaborate closely with customer-facing technical staff (support engineers, solutions architects, developer relations) on best practices, onboarding material, and other scenario-based guidance.
  • Develop tutorials to improve user experience.

Desired Skills:

  • You must have very strong writing and editing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, computer science, English, or a related field preferred
  • You must have 3-5 years writing experience, ideally as a technical writer in the software or a related industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in the Vivun organization.
  • You must be able to respond effectively to multiple requests and priorities simultaneously, including being able to give and receive feedback constructively.
  • Ability to work independently, to collaborate, and to balance multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of technical writing standards and familiarity with common style guides.
  • Experience developing short video tutorials.
  • Experience creating effective and attractive diagrams.
  • Obsession with technical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Edit own content for completeness, style, and accuracy to ensure it reflects Vivun’s commitment to quality.
  • Entrepreneurial, "can-do" approach.

Nice-to-have Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Salesforce Apex, HTML, Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps.
  • You don't have to be as technically knowledgeable as a software engineer, but proficiency in any programming language is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
