About the Role:
As part of this transformation, we are seeing a significant increase in the partner ecosystem's interest to work with Confluent given the opportunity for partners to build solutions and practices based on Confluent that leverages their regional, industry, and technology integration capabilities and assets. ISVs are partnering with Confluent to offer their customers the best solutions around streaming and legacy modernization use cases. You will have a chance to collaborate with the best companies in the market: Cloud Service Providers (Microsoft , Google, AWS) , Global System Integrators and Regional System Integrators. 
This is a chance to work as a Partner Sales Engineer to be the technical lead for our partners in CEMEA, with high visibility and significant impact. To be successful you most likely will have experience working in a consultancy architecting and engineering solutions to tough technical challenges, or in a solution architect/pre-sales role. Exposure to leading technical training is an advantage, but proven technology experience and the ability to communicate new technology crisply and with passion are the key skills. 
We need someone to join the team who will jump in and execute on the current opportunities while building out the partnering landscape and engagement to help drive our European business to the next level of success. For this we are looking for a strong technologist who can work across the spectrum of our partner ecosystem. Ideally you have hands-on experience with Apache Kafka™/Confluent but with our internal expertise we can ramp you quickly on this if you have in-depth knowledge of software architecture and messaging technologies.

In this role you will:

  • Educate and enable partners on Confluent’s (products and services)
  • Work with strategic partners to drive joint GTM efforts
  • Engage with partners' technical and sales leaders in support of key partner sourced and influenced customer opportunities
  • Work with global and regional systems integrators to build differentiated solutions and offerings based on Confluent technology  
  • Provide architectural guidance and recommendations across solutions, offerings and customer opportunities
  • Support partners in their efforts to build integrations and solutions that enable customers to get value from the Confluent products and services
  • Work with key cloud providers (Google, AWS, Azure, etc) in regarding key opportunities and Q&A around GTM efforts
  • Build relationships with partners' key technical contacts
  • Support in partner and partner-related technical issue resolution as appropriate
  • Provide partner  and market feedback to Confluent product management and engineering to influence product direction

What are we looking for?

  • Broad technical skills and industry experience
  • Self-sufficient, self-starter with proven success taking ownership of projects.
  • 5+ years working in partner & customer facing sales engineering roles
  • Demonstrated experience architecting solutions for enterprise customers and partners
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a focus on identifying shared business value around complex software solutions both in English and German
  • Curiosity, coupled with the ability to quickly investigate and assess new technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to distil complex subject matter to key points and communicate to multiple audiences effectively
  • Analytical mind and strong quantitative skills, capable of leveraging data to convey key insights
  • Demonstrate a strong “stage presence” and ability to engage and manage a group.
  • Comfortable in rapidly changing environments

What gives you an edge:

  • Experience operating within and across cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, sales marketing, etc.
  • Highly developed relationship-building skills, and ability to impact change through influence
  • Experience with some of the related messaging, streaming and ETL products commonly in the enterprise
  • Background in cloud, enterprise software and/or system integration
  • Familiarity with Linux, Java, and software design principles
