We are looking for a Technical Product Manager to join our Backend Services team. In this role, you will work closely with Engineering to bring new micro-services for the Wonolo platform to life. You will work closely with engineering to determine, define and develop new services based on business needs while evaluating existing architecture for overhauls. Your work will support the needs of our other development teams so that business customers and workers can find work and get paid. This is a great opportunity to work on large-scale initiatives with new foundations. We want to deliver a world class development experience for our team, and you will be a big driver behind this.

We are remote-first and welcome qualified candidates located anywhere in the United States and Canada.

What you'll do:

  • Own strategy and roadmap for Backend Services capabilities
  • Design and build end-to-end micro-services, whether integrating onto user-facing products or exposing API endpoints 
  • Partner with engineering on system architecture decisions
  • Design complex data flows, business rules, user flows and use-cases based on customer needs
  • Drive product priorities by understanding our internal development needs through research and discussions with product and engineering teams

Who you are:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical product management role
  • Strong domain expertise in REST APIs
  • Strong technical background with the ability to engage in system design with engineering
  • Proven experience to execute data-driven problem solving; ability to run detailed analysis (well versed with data)
  • Experience implementing API analytics
  • Ability to turn complex or ambiguous problem statements into solid action plans
  • Ability to execute on feature requests while still carving out time to prioritize higher-impact projects that drive greater business success
  • Ability to discuss technical details with engineering and product design, while concisely communicating your vision with leadership, customers, and business partners
  • Experience setting up instrumentation and implementing analytics conducting exploratory analysis to inform product decisions 
  • You demonstrate a commitment towards advancing representation and inclusion in and outside the workplace

Preferred:

  • GraphQL experience
  • Experience working in Ruby on Rails environment
