Reporting to: Financial Controller

Type of Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full time

Location: Remote (GMT +/- 2 hours), with optional London-based workspace


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious finance professional to play a vital role as part of our Finance team.

Relevant experience is important, however the selection process will focus on the candidate’s ability to grasp new concepts quickly, to work well under pressure and to 'get things done'. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a genuine ability to manage a heavy day-to-day workload while maintaining a desire to take on new responsibilities in order to grow into the role.


  • Process purchase invoices and credit card transactions
  • Preparation of purchase orders
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Credit card reconciliation - ensure all receipts are received and booked
  • Reconciliation of supplier and customer statements
  • Review and approval of supplier setup requests
  • Maintain fixed asset register
  • Month end journal preparation (Supplier accruals / Prepayments)
  • Management of FX rates in Xero
  • Analyse and report on month-on-month changes to Income statement and balance sheet accounts including narratives and variance analysis
  • Prepare payment run for approval by FC/CFO
  • Prepare monthly budget reporting for distribution to department heads
  • Assist in production of year-end accounts and support during external audit


  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or 2-4 years’ accounting experience in a similar role
  • Experience of using Xero or similar cloud based accounting system
  • Advanced Excel skills (sumif, lookups, if/and/or logic functions and pivot tables)
  • A strong interest in the education sector
  • Proven experience of successful collaboration between finance and non-finance people
  • Self-starter - ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced and growing environment where a willingness to turn your hand to any task is key
  • Strong organisational skills - ability to prioritise workload and work to strict deadlines
