Geotab is seeking a Network Engineering Architect who will act as the subject matter expert for all network-related functions, provide cross-training and knowledge sharing to empower the team to be more successful. What you’ll do:
As a Network Engineering Architect your key area of responsibility will be designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Geotab’s growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable and highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Assess business requirements for corporate and operations networks (plan, design, patch, upgrade).
  • Maintain Geotab’s corporate networks, physical and cloud/virtualized networking resources.
  • Set up, upgrade, and troubleshoot physical and virtual Firewalls, inter-site VPN, zero trust systems, multi-WAN and multi VLAN environments, multi cloud and hybrid networking.
  • Incorporate Security controls and technologies into the overall system implementations.
  • Strong ability to document (design specs, project documentation, KB/SOP documents) and set standards, implement processes, procedures and governance of network environments.
  • Design, build, deliver, and maintain network solutions to meet customer requirements, and lead overall efforts in working with cross-functional teams.
  • Review the current network design and propose more alternatives for a fully redundant and resilient network to support daily global business operations and future growth, including DR needs.
  • Enable automation to reduce release cycle time and provide higher quality of service.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to management, to assist in technology directions, decisions, security policy, and road map.
  • Review network utilization and performance trends.
  • Continuously seek to more efficiently manage and utilize technology, platforms, and systems.
  • Highlight design risks, provide alternative options, and recommend a quality solution to specified problems.
  • Work with Development Operations on IT tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Be the subject matter expert for all network-related functions, provide cross-training, mentorship/guidance and knowledge sharing, to empower the team to be more successful.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • 8-10 years of experience in Network Engineering.
  • 4-6 years experience with Cloud Platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure - networking, security).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in Networking is preferred.
  • Professional certification in Information Technology (GCP, AWS, Azure, VCP, MCP, CCIE).
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
  • Familiar with Wireless Transfer Speeds 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad and other new and emerging standards Wireless network design and administration.
  • Experience with managing DNS, DNSSEC, SNMP.
  • Experience with enterprise network configuration and/or support in a global multi cloud or hybrid environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based computing services such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
  • Experience with network automation tools, and advanced scripting skills (i.e. Ansible, Terraform). 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides), Visual studio/Lucidchart.
