We have ambitious growth plans and are seeking an accomplished Manager of Engineering who has a business value driven approach, a quality, security, & production accountability mindset, and can lead a product engineering team through architecture, design, & delivery of services & product features for our customers. The right candidate is someone who cares deeply about their team, coaches for high performance in a fast-paced environment, works effectively with their counterparts in product, design, and the rest of the organization. They know how to bring out the best in their team members and keep them focused on delivery and they can provide technical guidance to help achieve a successful balance of scalable, sustainable short- and long- term architecture.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and empower a team of frontend, backend, and full-stack engineers through hiring, coaching, and career development. 
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with Plastiq’s values. 
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams and groups to define product features, as well as evaluate external partnerships for integrations into our platforms.
  • Advocate and implement agile software development practices and track metrics for team performance and quality that results in continuous improvement.
  • Provide strong technical leadership. Lead and participate in critical technical design and production discussions with leaders across multi-functional teams. 
  • Responsible for the success of your team’s product and delivery in a timely manner.

Your Minimum Experience Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience which includes at least 1 year of proven success in building and managing a high performing engineering team of 5 or more software engineers.
  • Proven successful track record of driving development projects into production rapidly.
  • Effectively facilitate technical discussions with your engineering team as well as cross functional teams.
  • Build a cohesive, high-functioning team that thrives in a culture of trust, respect and inclusion.
  • Motivate engineering team to move quickly and ship on time and find opportunities to collaborate with partner teams to build reusable infrastructure.

Plastiq's Tech Stack

  • Plastiq operates a CI/CD model and releases code to production frequently. We are building cloud-native micro-services with a component-based frontend written in React.js, and a Node.js backend, which sits in front of our Payments Processing Platform built in Java.
  • For our testing platforms we use Jest for API & unit backend tests, for frontend testing, and Gitlab for our continuous integration and delivery. 
  • Plastiq is powered by data. Our data pipeline continuously streams data to Snowflake via AWS Kinesis so our Data Engineering and Analytics team can produce machine-learning models that help drive our business.
