Amyris is seeking a Senior Packaging Development Manager, who will be responsible to oversee and develop primary and secondary packaging for specific product launches as determined by upper management. This position will work with the design concept to source and develop packaging through to production validation.

Responsibilities:

  • Key lead on packaging development and re-development: primary, secondary, tertiary, print collateral and accessories
  • Attain samples, pricing and manage the approval process with all parties
  • Manage the development of quality packaging in a cost-effective manner from concept to production while meeting product development calendar/deadlines.
  • Manage packaging requests, supplier/packaging comparisons and recommendations on how to move forward
  • Be able to develop, implement and maintain methods and/or processes in the fabrication of parts, components and final assemblies.
  • Have experience in custom tooling and understanding of pre concept studies, technical drawings and 3D model approvals and the production tool process.
  • Manage ECO needs to re-align with brand standards of materials and suppliers
  • Responsible to keep status on all parts and serve as liaison between Marketing, Creative department, Operations and the manufacturer on all aspects of development and/or redevelopment.
  • Controls design change process and serves as owner for all packaging design changes.
  • Coordinate mock-ups, color matches, draw downs, proofs and initial pricing
  • Manage structural functional and design proofs and approvals
  • Validate first production or line trials
  • Have knowledge and manage all packaging compatibility testing internally and externally by validating all packaging functionalities, quality and materials pirior to component selection
  • Create all assembly instructions for kits and finished goods to be shared with manufacturers and the distribution center
  • Research and stay up to date with all sustainability packaging initiatives and present to internal team
  • Partner with creative on display unit development
  • Partner with QA: drop/ship tests

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Packaging Engineering or related field of study.
  • Min of 7 years of packaging development experience working on skincare, cosmetic or consumer packaged goods products
  • Full working knowledge of materials, structural and functional design and tooling for primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials
  • Knowledge of production, manufacturing, product integrity & production cycle timelines.
  • Knowledge of component printing and graphic arts.
  • Ability to perform high quality work in an efficient manner.
  • PC workstation proficiency; Microsoft WORD, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft Projects a plus, but not required.
