We are launching a new clean haircare brand with Jonathan Van Ness, American hairdresser, television personality, podcast host, actor and author.  The brand will de-gender and revolutionize the haircare industry with the best performing sustainable products. 
The global haircare market represents approximately 25% of the $300 billion beauty market and has experienced growth acceleration during 2020 with more than 50% of consumers choosing clean and sustainable haircare products. Enabled by its proprietary Lab-to-Market synthetic biology platform, Amyris has developed and produces some of the leading clean ingredients to lead the transformation of the haircare industry to a clean and sustainable future.
The new JVN haircare brand is expected to launch during the summer of 2021 and will offer unparalleled ingredient efficacy, clean formulas and packaging, with genuine inclusivity. The new brand, which focuses on addressing hair health needs, will feature a proprietary Amyris ingredient, hemi-squalane, a powerfully hydrating silicone-alternative that is effective across all hair textures.
The Senior Digital Art Director will lead design concept layouts and execute engaging x-channel digital designs for new product launches and seasonal campaigns on a global, regional, and market level. They will be creative and strategic with visual UX/UI solutions and digital channels, such as social media, paid media, CTV, and video, while maintaining, evolving, and elevating brand standards. They will collaborate with business stakeholders to ideate and translate marketing and brand strategies into stunning and engaging, best-in-class, digital-first experiences.
The ideal candidate lives and breathes design, typography, color theory, and composition. They thrive when immersed in all things related to design and have a passion to build brand leadership within the digital space. This position reports to the Creative Director.


  • Own all digital channels across site, UI/UX, email, SMS, paid social, and video to ensure the brand comes to life in a user-friendly digital format 
  • Digital-first (digital only) mindset, you will have a finger on the pulse of new visual trends and the competitive landscape to pull forward best-in-class visual ideas and solutions on digital channels.
  • Produce best-in-class digital UX/UI design executions, while building clean digital files (email marketing, e-commerce, UI/UX, responsive web designs, paid media, and social assets) 
  • Strategic thinker and excellent communication skills are a must for articulating the vision and receiving/providing feedback 
  • Manage multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions while keeping keen attention to detail 
  • Collaborate with Copywriters, Marketing, eCommerce, Product Development, IT, Sales, and external agency teams and other internal stakeholders to concept, develop, and execute product launches, digital, and social campaigns for the brand 
  • Bolster brand love and advocacy through best-in-class client digital experiences 
  • Collaborate with the photography team in planning photo and video shoots (storyboarding, mood boards, and design comps as necessary) 
  • Implement the brand tone + voice through design across all touchpoints with sharp attention, translating marketing communication strategies in the most effective way possible 
  • Attends all bi-weekly project kickoffs and creative reviews examines assigned project briefs, paying close attention to marketing objectives and requests 
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail with minimal supervision 
  • Prioritize and manage own workload while taking ownership of deadlines across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment 
  • Work independently to anticipate problems before they arise; find solutions and follow-up on own initiative 
  • Stays current on industry trends, social sentiment, and competitors 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required 
  • 10+ years of digital design experience with a focus in email marketing – proven expertise in web, social and paid media creative execution a must 
  • Proven strong visual design executions, excellent typography & layout skills, and a keen eye for details and brand identity systems  
  • Possess an outstanding portfolio with variety of industries and deliverables represented 
  • Experience working with marketing teams and demonstrated flexibility in management of creative execution needs, and ability to positively respond to critique/feedback 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert in current graphic design tools for Adobe CC Suite (primarily Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Sketch, and Zeplin a plus)
