As a collaborative and driven professional, the Instructional Designer/Developer is responsible for the instructional design and development of engaging and impactful multi-channel learning and performance solutions and experiences that are aligned with the business strategies and identified goals and objectives for assigned business function.  This individual must be agile, dynamic, and innovative to adapt to our environment of rapid change.

On a typical day, you would be responsible for the following:

  • Collaborate with the Talent Development team on preliminary needs analysis findings to agree on most appropriate solution(s), (i.e., Classroom, eLearning, virtual synchronous or asynchronous, role plays, simulations, games, videos, job aid, blended, other digital) delivery format and evaluation plan to design & develop programs and or curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the Talent Development team where required to gather content.
  • Create instructional design documents for review and sign off by all stakeholders.
  • Develop solutions adhering to adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies and an Agile IDD project management model.
  • Use a wide variety of software/media/tools to develop content for in class programs, online courses, simulations, webpages, videos, games, infographics, online communities, message boards, discussion forums, performance support tools and other print medium.
  • Develop storyboards, scripts, screenshots, and other related materials to develop highly engaging and impactful learning solutions and experiences.
  • Liaise with the Learning Systems and Analytics Specialist where appropriate to transition materials to the LMS or LXP.
  • Continually build a knowledge base of current and future technology trends, innovations, industry standards, ideas, and best practices to ensure learning offerings continue to engage all demographics of participants.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with both the instructional design and development of multi-channel (i.e. Classroom, eLearning, virtual synchronous or asynchronous, role plays, simulations, games, videos, job aid, blended, other digital) solutions in alignment with adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emergent trends in eLearning development, educational technologies, virtual, social, and mobile learning.
  • Strong ability to develop content into engaging and accessible solutions for multichannel delivery including classroom, online courses, synchronous/asynchronous, virtual, simulations, webpages, videos, games, social platforms, mobile and print.
  • Strong ability to conduct quality assurance testing of multichannel solutions against instructional design standards.
  • Advanced ability using Articulate 360 products including Storyline & Rise.
  • Advanced ability to develop SharePoint sites using SharePoint Designer and SharePoint workflows.
  • Advanced ability using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Knowledge of other applications such as and the Adobe Master Creative Suite, Audacity, Camtasia, Canva, Miro, SnagIt, Visme, Vyond, Zoom and other educational technology tools an asset.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, and xAPI an asset.
  • Knowledge of VR and AR authoring tools an asset.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, establish priorities, organize, and plan work.
  • Superior interpersonal, presentation, group facilitation, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to produce in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible, and adapt to shifting priorities.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in adult learning instructional design and eLearning development of interactive, blended learning and performance solutions using multichannel delivery methods.
  • Experience designing and developing HR and Talent Development programs an asset.
  • University degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technologies an asset.
  • CTDP certification or eLearning Guild membership an asset.
