Overview:
·         A Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide the highest level of technical support to their peers and our customers·         The SME is the owner of complex customer issues which may take several days or weeks to resolve·         The SME applies creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of problems·         The SME defines, designs and implements database solutions, as well as proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system·         The SME takes the lead role in the technical mentoring and development of other Oracle DBA’s·         The SME takes the lead role in internal and customer-facing projects, as well as assigns and manages employees to various projects and directs their activities·         In addition, the SME is responsible for setting standard operating procedures for the group, including developing and maintaining technical documentation, best practice resolution techniques for junior DBAs, and the diagnostic script repository·         Provides input during the performance and merit review process·         Facilitate technical meetings. Identify coaching and development opportunities for other Oracle DBA’s·         Assist the team lead as appropriate. Serves as a backup to Team Leader

You Will:

  • Manages small to large-sized database projects
  • Ensures all projects are completed on time and according to corporate quality standards
  • Facilitates communication upward and across teams
  • Serves as a focal point for other departments on project status or other product information
  • Ensures projects are properly documented, and communicated to the rest of the DBA team
  • Provides consulting service to the customer on building solutions to meet customer needs
  • Responsible for the technical aspect of customer visits both in the office and at customer locations include presentations
  • Exercises judgment in decision-making to routinely deliver FANATICAL customer support

You Have:

  • 10 years or more experience in Oracle and MySQL database administration or related field preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of RDBMS, Oracle database, including database administration, Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Oracle Grid Control, advanced performance tuning & troubleshooting, backup & recovery and server technologies
  • Experience with documentation procedures in an FDA regulated environment
  • Troubleshoot issues at the server and database level
  • In-depth knowledge about Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Oracle Grid Control: concepts, administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting etc. In-depth knowledge of all aspects of managed hosting preferred
  • Experience with migrating Oracle databases to the cloud AWS RDS and OCI DBaaS
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to discuss/make recommendations on all aspects of a hosted environment, from the hardware configuration and datacenter environment to networking, managed storage/backup and OS support
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making and communication skills
  • Experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
  • Continually expands knowledge in the areas of new developments and trends; may make recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments
  • Proven experience in leading Database administration projects
  • Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work to maintain required productivity levels.
  • Must be detailed in documenting information and practice good follow-through techniques. Excellent problem-solving abilities coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience, required

Certifications:

  • Oracle certified professional, certification required
